Takes place during "City of Walls and Secrets"
Cue inside of the guest hotel-
"Toph and Katara would go undercover as sophisticated members of the king's party while Aang and Sokka would wait. We don't know what they did right? So how about I make something up. It would make the 'perfect slice of life' situation."
After a long day of touring that landlocked city, the gang decided that there would be no other way to warn the king safely about the upcoming solar eclipse than to go in and infiltrate the party.
Only Toph and Katara can pull this off. Sokka has no manners whatsoever, the way he eats, his sarcastic behavior, how far his opinions about people can go, and how much of a feminist he is. As for Aang, well... He was still a child regardless. After all, he was frozen for over 112 years, he's having a hard time keeping up with today's standards and regulations. But he knows how much responsibility he beholds as the one and the only Avatar.
So the girls told the boys to wait inside the guest hotel until further notice. When you think about it, it can get pretty awkward without the whole gang around, as a certain little lemur down there would pretend to be extinguished after the girls left.
And Aang can't really play with Appa to pass the time, so, it would be a long moment amongst the young men for only about two hours. And Sokka knew just how to bring it up. Remembering where he left off after flicking the Airbender's forehead.
Sokka: *turns to Aang smirking* You know, I saw that look, kid.
Aang: *jumps in surprise* What?!
Sokka: That look, that you gave Katara, don't tell me you have a thing for my sister, do you? The universe may hate me but it hasn't failed me when I'm making such guesses.
Sokka at times has been reckless, but he wasn't always reckless in making an assumption. His assumption now was a very good one, but Aang... Aang was not ready to come out to Katara a little just yet, because of two things; One, how can it work with an Airbender, whose destiny is to protect the world from all of the harm that will eventually be on its way? And the second matter of concern is what will Katara think?... What will she think of his true feelings towards her? Would they be creepy? Would they be gross? Would they be strange? For now, let's disagree when Aang just shrugs it off.
Aang: The universe is just unpredictable, you know that right?
Sokka: Sure thing kid. *thinks for a moment* So, what do you wanna do? They'll be gone for hours.
That question was just enough to spark the inner child inside of Aang, and so he smirks at Sokka, who sweatdrops.
Cut to the bedroom-
Aang and Sokka: (together) PILLOW FIGHT!
The two boys jump on the large king-sized bed and hit pillows at each other's faces. Aang, accidentally using his metahuman strength, socked Sokka so hard on his face that he hit the bed frame, temporarily knocking himself out.
Cut (#2) to the hotel kitchen-
Aang found a gallon's worth of sealed water stored in a container, and Sokka would immediately insist that he chugged it, so the gullible child did so. For a first-timer, Aang was doing an excellent job going so far in drinking so much water.
But the moment there was nothing but a drop left in the jug, Aang, with his stomach and his mouth full, SPAT the water out, directly onto Sokka's face, leaving the teenager frowning in disgust...
Scene switches to outside of the hotel-
A few minutes earlier, Aang heard some music coming by the building and before Sokka could say something, Aang rushed out of the door. Street performers happened to come by and a small crowd gathered around to see them hit a lot of notes. A few other kids younger way than Aang would join in to dance in the middle of the audience.
Once Aang saw Sokka step outside, he begged him to show him some of his dance moves. Sokka initially refuses, but when Aang used his puppy eyes...
Sokka: (-__-) You're lucky you're the Avatar...
On a public bench-
Sokka: ...So like, I know that Suki says that she can protect herself, but I can't help but feel that something will happen to her out there, and I won't be there to help her...
Aang: *nods*
Sokka: When Suki's around me I feel like I'm... Stronger than I know I can be. But everytime she has to go, I feel... So weak. I'm like, so scared for her. I don't know what to do...
Aang took everything he just said to his heart. He has never seen Sokka open up like this, not on a night like this. After all, he did act very differently when Suki was reunited with the gang yesterday. This was a side of Sokka that was very satisfying, at least to Aang, who's now here to witness it.
This must be true love, one would guess right? For Aang, he should know, because these are the same exact feelings he feels when he has to leave the team, and leave Katara, to answer the call to a mission that only he can survive through. It really hurts him deep down. He never wants to leave the team's side, they're like his family, and the one he's never had before in his life.
Aang: Well Sokka... I know that when I'm channeling my meditation, I can meet with the universe, and the universe is really unpredictable! So many things happen!
But... When I'm staying focused and I know that nothing bad is going to happen, I can finally be at peace with the universe. The universe... That's quite an odd but, very resourceful example. When you think about it, Aang, being only 112 years old, has been able to see how the world functions a long time ago, even though it may have changed long since then. It was just enough for Aang to learn that we can't control the fate of the universe, but we believe in change, and learn from it, we can benefit from it.
Sokka: *impressed and then smirks* Since when did you get so wise?
Aang: *shrugs* Picked it up from you I guess.
Sokka smiles at the compliment the little Airbender just gave him. It's true, most of the time the gang will turn towards Sokka when they need an answer to a big problem, or just to be amused.
Sokka: *gets up* Ready to meet up with the girls?
Aang: *does the same* Yeah, I think they're ready.
Let's go!And so, the two go would walk to the party to begin their side of the mission, going undercover.
Funny that you can do many things when you're offscreen.
