CHAPTER 2: There were more

I reached the crime scene as quickly as I could. My brother Jonathan was waiting for me, the rain eventually stopped.

When I saw the bodies, I was literally shocked. "How could someone do this?"

We sent the bodies for further investigation, informed their families, and filed a case.

I can't remove the image of those bodies from my head. " How could someone make a hole in their chest with a knife?" I guess I can't eat anything for a few days after this.

It's late at night, almost 3:00 am and the reports were there,

"Both the victims' hearts were ripped out, and both were given tranquilizers before killing them, but still killed them after the intoxication of the drug was gone, so that they could feel the pain... and the killer took the hearts"

It's 4:00 am and we got another call from a patrolling department, that they found 4 more bodies in different places.

6 deaths in a single day! For the first time, I just prayed that it wasn't the same person who did it instead of praying that they were alive.

I and Jonathan immediately went to the next crime scene,

They were murdered the exact same way, there is a blood-filled hole in their chest, when the forensics department arrived and investigated the case, this time they found that they were not given any kind of drugs instead, they beat their victims with something hard enough to make them unconscious,

for further detailed reports, they needed to send them to the lab, and they transported the bodies.

After that Sarah called me.

Sarah: Are you alright? What happened? Why are you gone this late? When are you coming back home?

Uh! Too many questions at the same time, she didn't even give me time to answer, she was so worried.

"Yes love, I am alright and I'm working on this case with Jonathan, it will be late, I'll be back home by tomorrow, you go to sleep, don't worry about me I'll be fine," I said

She calmed down a little, after knowing that I was alright.

Sarah: what about that murder?

I told her it's nothing because she would be terrified if she gets to know about them right now it's 5:15 in the morning. I decided to tell her later when the time is right.

Sarah: Please be safe and come back home faster, I'm worried, I love you.

The reports we ready

"I love you too Sarah, I need to go I'll call you later," I said and cut the call.

We headed towards the lab and started looking at the reports. One person was hit with a rod at the back of the head and another was hit with a stone and later their hearts were removed from their body.

"What type of person would collect the hearts of other people?"

Whoever that person is, he/she is more dangerous than we think.

We need to announce this news to the public, so they can be aware.

We rushed to the governor's home(as the office would not be open right now), to inform her about this situation. We also sent this to the news channels and all the newspapers, so that citizens would be aware.

The governor was mad about this because Wingston had not seen this type of murder since forever. She wanted the police department to catch the criminal as soon as possible.

We tried to look at all the cameras but the killer is so clever, we didn't get him in any camera, there is no sign of that person. That person is someone we should all be afraid of.

It's 9:30 Am in the morning, we didn't sleep that whole night.

We got the newspaper, the headlines were

"A psychotic serial killer is on loose in Wingston" and the government implemented a night curfew in the town...

I got a call from my friend Joseph from the forensic department, he wanted me to come there quickly.

I went to him, he wanted to show me something.

Joseph: We found a common thing in all these bodies, there are 6 bodies here, when we sprayed ammonia on them, we found these patterns on the bodies.

The patterns resembled Roman numbers.

Joseph: Look at them, there is I, II, IV, V, VII, and IX.

The missing numbers! Three, six, and eight. 

Does that mean? and I paused

Joseph: Yes, there are 3 more bodies out there...
