“Oh my my!!!” Anaisha whined a little bit just after waking up. “My whole body is aching and look at the new professor, he needs to join today only, what a mess!”  grumbling under her breath she is continuously cursing her life. Anaisha Jindal, a woman of 22, with a pretty sorted life in Melbourne, pursuing Law. She never fails to complain about her messy life, but that’s not true at all. She is generous and quite helpful. Among her friends, she was the “MOMMY” because of her mother-like nature. Anaisha has extremely supportive parents which is quite an exception in a brown household, but she was born and brought up in Canberra so, she doesn’t care about nonsensical opinions anyways. Her studies and career came first even before herself.

“Let’s take a walk to the cafe, I am early anyways…'' She spoke her mind and started her journey towards the cafe. Just when she was entering the cafe she witnessed a big basket. Initially, she couldn’t be bothered, so she went in, had her coffee, and got a chocolate pastry and an eclair packed for taking away. When she was retreating from the cafe she noticed the basket was untouched and the same as it was.  Her curiosity got the best of her and she got nearer that basket, thinking she might find a puppy, just like in the movies. But to her horror, there was a baby of not more than two days old. That baby was shivering and she looked like she might die anytime. Anaisha felt chills running down her spine. She couldn’t stop her tears. The baby was the byword of cuteness. Unlike other babies, her head is full of brown curls and with a blazing bronze skin tone she looked like an Indian goddess, but her lips seemed frozen as if trying to survive in this cold, harsh world.  She looked through the basket and came across the chit where “Do anything with this, we won’t claim it anyway.” was written. Her heart got broken when the baby was used to refer to ‘it’ and not ‘he/she’. She couldn’t take it anymore and took the baby in her arms and witnessed, the baby is a girl. She sobbed out of regret as a human being. She sensed the baby was not moving much, just moving her feet, which was also negligible. She felt numb, what would she do? She has to do something. Being a human she can’t be heartless by placing her down and fleeing. She thought to herself and was determined to take this little life to the nearest hospital. After 30 mins of struggle, she reached the emergency section and asked to check the baby immediately.

After 1hr, the doctor came out and asked to talk to her in private. “So Miss?”the doctor asked, “Jindal, doctor” Anaisha replied, “ So Doctor, Is she out of danger..???” She doesn’t even know the baby, but she wants to protect her and keep her for life. She felt she either killed or was killed for the baby. She might be overthinking she felt, but her heart was saying ‘ no, you are just correct and fuck others.’ She waited for the doctor’s answer and hoped to be a piece of good news rather than bad.  “Yes, she is out of danger. Although she was pneumatic, you arrived at the right time as it could have been acute, if delayed.” She couldn’t believe missing a precious class of her law course, she saved her girl. Oops, did the heart just said ‘her girl’? She didn’t know and rather she will try not to know why she started getting attached to those little hands and feet. She rather not find why she is feeling like a real ‘mom’ all of a sudden. She would rather not discover why the baby she knew for not more than 5 hours demands her whole life. She was determined to protect that girl at any cost. Like for real, she would rather die than witnessing the baby harmed in front of her.

She went to the reception to pay the bills, there she realized she didn't even know her name, she didn't know anything. She went back to the doctor. “ doctor I think I need your help.” The doctor was a lady of 50. Looking at Anaisha’s confused and scared face she asks her to come to her chamber again. “What happened child? You can confide in me.” the doctor asked her with a soothing tone. “ Dr. Smith, the baby right there, I found her at the doorway of the cafe I visit daily. She was thrown there like a piece of trash, if I wouldn’t have seen her, she would have died by now. I don’t know but I need to protect that baby.” Anaisha couldn’t control her emotions and started crying. Dr. Smith suggested, “For now I might give you a temporary birth certificate, but later try to put her in an adoption home or…” Doctor paused and Anaisha curiously asked, “ Or what doctor.?” “Or you might adopt her yourself.”
