"My goodness" the wanderer chuckled "Pirates without treasure... Now that's depressing"Avocato glared as he and his men pointed their weapons at him, where most lowered them after, Avocato kept his sword pointed.
"What do you want?" He growled, he was surprised the human didn't take the chance to escape
"I-" the wanderer smiled as he swang his legs that couldn't touch the ground as he sat on top of the barrel "want to us to be mature gentlemen and make a deal"
Avocato raised his brow at this. His prisoner, who had no power and had been clearly afraid of them, thinks he can make a deal with them.
"Go on" Avocato lowered his sword, wanting to see how this plays out
"I'll pay for my freedom" the other revealed "every ounce of gold you lost, I'll return the same amount" he jumped off the barrel and crossed his arms
"And how would you do that?" The captain asked "if you think we're going to drop you somewhere and make you steal things for us without expecting you to run, you are wro--"
Bartolomew was interrupted by the wanderer kicking down the barrel, causing it to burst open as it hit the ground and revealing gold and jewels inside it. The barrel had been full of treasure.
The crew stared with wide eyes, the gold shimmering in the light of day. It was about the same amount of treasure they had got stolen-
Turns out the wanderer had not attempted an escape but simply gone onto the other ship to steal their treasure out of pure spite."I want you to take me to land" the blond began, getting in the way of their view to remind them that he still sat inbetweeen the gold "then you and I" he pointed at Bartolomew "can act as if we never met and all this never happened...its a shame I'll leave since I liked most of the crew- however my like is outshined by how much I despise you, 'Captain'" The wanderer continued, spitting out the other's title with distaste that had caused Bartolomew, himself, to be surprised.
"You pulled my hair, refused to believe me and locked me in a cell, took away the crystal that I had rightfully stolen and I'm sure the reason Little Cato stopped hanging out with me is because of you to!" The other stepped closer, poiting at Bartolomew's chest "Oh! Did I mention you pulled my hair?!" He huffed
"He seems really upset about the hair pulling" Avocato thought as he eyed the other, it was an...interesting sight, a short human telling a pirate, a ventraxian at that, that he hates him.
The ventraxian studied the human, he studied the pout and the way his brows furrowed, the way his cheeks puffed out and his nose scrunched up. Was this him being angry? It was...quite adorable if one had to admit. The silence thickened out as Avocato thought through the other's deal. Give a thief his freedom and receive gold in return...
Lifting his sword, he watched the human flinch and quickly shut his eyes, ready to die at any moment. However, avocato simply put his sword back at his side, chuckling at how the human, same human that had been showing how much he hates him a few seconds ago, shook in place. He was an interesting guy..."Alright" Bartolomew decided "sounds interesting, plus we are already two days away from land"
"What?" Little Cato looked up at his dad, surprised with his decision- though as he looked up he noticed it wasn't the gold that had intrigued the captain but the man offering it.
"What?" The wanderer repeated the question "I mean-- yeah yeah, good- I totally didn't doubt this would work" he nodded, faking his confidence "but two days away from land? Doesn't sound too bad....where exactly are we heading?"
"Originally" Bartolomew started "our plan was to deliver you as a thief to America--"
"America?!" The wanderer interrupted "nope! No! I refuse! Change it" he said quickly, taking few more steps closer to the barrel of gold
"Excuse me" The captain seemed angry with the other ordering him
"I won't go to America" the wanderer insisted
"We aren't changing our route" Bartolomew stepped closer with a growl, the human was certainly pushing it now- was he suicidal or just a fool?
"Then..." the wanderer wavered at the sight of the other being angry "can't you maybe drop me off closer to uuuh...Mexico?" He suggested
Captain Bartolomew huffed but turned to Nyata anyway, who was the navigator, the Lynx seemed to pause before nodding to his captain, affirming that they should still arrive around the same time.
"Alrighty" Avocato sighed in annoyance "we will be stopping close to our destination and use a paddle boat to get closer" he informed "drop you off near Texas"
"Sounds wonderful" the blond seemed to relax "glad we could deal with this like gentlemen"
"OH MY TITAS!!" Gary thought but his expression showed only a smile, he was acting as calm as he possibly could but on the inside it was a mixture of a celebration and panic.
He had dodged a massive bullet right there and now he felt like he was sweating buckets, afraid the others could tell.Unknown to the crew, Gary was the Trickster and his bounty was much higher than whatever gold he just offered them. Had they continued with their original plan, someone was bound to recognize Gary and tell them- which would not end up in prison but public execution.
Of course, there were other downfalls to going to America other than death. If, by a strike of luck, no one recognised him and Gary managed to break of of prison- chances were high that slave traders would recognise him instead, especially with the slave tattoo on the back of his neck.
America was one of the most advanced places on Earth. Being ruled by an alien, the Lord Commander, who controls armies and allows customs and cultures to die in that country in order to become stronger.
Gary fears that place...it was the place he was born but the same he had been sold as a slave by his own mother.
He wouldn't let his freedom get taken away again. As soon as he set foot on land, he would head towards Mexico or Brazil if he needs to get away further, then he'd escape his way back to Europe in order to grant his freedom.
Until then, all he has to do is survive around these pirates and make sure he isn't recognised or his tattoo is seen.
