I watched in astonishment as Madison unlocked the stall and walked tight up to Ivy. "Hello there, beautiful girl!!" She said and giggled as Ivy sniffed her pockets. Already she had learned that Madison carried treats. Madison laughed more as Ivy's whiskers tickled her outstretched hand.

My ears went back and forth as I took it all in. I couldn't believe Ivy. Yet, instead of feeling mad, I felt sad and left out. Ivy didn't seem to appreciate me as much as she did before. My ears drooped and I blocked them out. Edward was now done with both of my sides and was running water over my body.

"I'm not done yet though, I still have to clean out his hoofs," Edward said and pointed to my rough-looking hooves. He then looked into the setting sun. "When will your Mother have supper ready??"

"I'll go ask," She replied and skipped her way out of the barn, humming a lovely tune. Edward ran his left hand down my right front leg. I watched him carefully and when he squeezed the bottom of my cannon, I reluctantly lifted my foot.

Edward held it firmly in his hand as I tried to pull it out of the rough hands. The same metal pick he used on Ivy was in his other hand, and he got the mud and rocks out. I used my head to push Edward forward several times, each one bigger than the last.

He eventually finished all but one of my back legs. Then, an idea sparked in my mind. Edward moved onto my back leg, and I could tell, his grip wasn't as good. I held it still, waiting. Edward relaxed. Perfect!! I waited a little longer until he was almost done. Then,

     BAM!!!!!
