Sarah was having an awful day. Her friend's favorite band, Blur, were having a show tonight and she was going to skip their bi-monthly girl's night to go with her stupid boyfriend. Sarah was super bummed out. Their girl's night was a way to escape her impoverished reality. Her mom was so poor and hey lived a decrepit lifestyle. All Sarah wanted was to be able to afford college, to become a professional world-renowned photographer.
Sarah hated Blur. Their stupid songs about country houses and girls and boys and midlife crises was so dumb to Sarah. She hated Oasis too, but did secretly think their bassist whose name she didn't know was really cute.
Sarah liked real music. Stuff like Radiohead. Now Pablo Honey, that was a album! And she thought Thom Yorke, of course, was a major freaking hottie. Sarah had a VHS copy of their MTV Beachouse performance that she had to pay $50 for on the black VHS market! Every time Thom jumped in the pool and almost died she cried a little thinking about what the world would be like without his genius.
As Sarah gazed with hazel orbs at her reflection of average height and medium-length brown hair with thick bangs put in a messy scrunchy bun and smokey eyeliner wearing an oversized sweatshirt and comfortable pants of some sort, her personal room phone rang! (A/N: I don't know hwo phones worked in the nineties I'm just a kid LOL HAHA if I got it wrong pls tell me ill fix it I promise )
"Hello, who is this?" Sarah asked.
"Hi Sarah, its your best friend of course!" Her friend answered.
"Oh, yeah, hi what's up," Sarah said dejectedly, still a little angry that she was skipping Bi-monthly Girl's Night.
"So my boyfriend is a total drag and decided to get in a car accident! He's in the hospital, so now I have an extra ticket to see Graham- sorry I mean Blur tonight. I have to go with someone!"
Sarah rolled her green orbs. "You know how I feel about that glorified boyband!!" Sarah said. "I hate them! Especially that Demon guy, he's such a weirdo!"
"Ugh, yeah I can't say he isn't. You got me there Sarah, but the rest of the band is really cool! Well mostly. Please please please, if I can't go with someone my parents won't let me go!!!"
"Oh, fine! Sarah said. "I have to ask my mom first, but she'll always say yes she loves you like a daughter."
Sarah went downstairs into their dingy living room and talked to her mom who was watching Wheel of Fortune in the TV. (A/N: Was wheel of fortune on back then? Sorry just trying to stamp out tha anachronisms uwu)
"Hi mom, can I go see Blur tonight with my friend?"
"Yes honey, absolutely! I trust your friend, she's so good."
Sarah pouted. "I was hoping you would say no, mom. I hate Blur! But I guess ill go for my friend.....hmph."
"Oh, by the way mom, we got some more bills. Here." Sarah had put them in her pocket and forgotten about them until now. Every day she would check the mail, put the bills in her comfortable pants, and then walk inside and forget! She was such a klutz. It was one of her worst qualities. She always tripped over things. And forgot to give important bills to her mother.
Her mom riffled through the papers for a minute and then gasped. "Sarah! The bank is going to foreclose our house in one day unless I pay these bills! What are we going to do!!!!" She wailed.
"MOm i have to get ready for the Blur concert!!" Sarah said, annoyed.
"Hmmm..." her mom said thoughtfully. But Sarah was too busy waling up the stars to her bed room to put on a nice outfit.
After a little while Sarah decided on wearing a cropped Radiohead t-shirt and a pair of ripped black jorts (AN: if u dont know jort is a portmanteau of jean and short lol its not some skin disease) over some black fishnet tights and her favorite pair of black Doc Martins. She finished the look by smudging her smokey eye a little more. She hoped she scared the little girl going to see their favorite British boyband!!
