this is my take on the original creepypasta, the backrooms.
felt grief and...
then you buzz out of reality because you couldnt swallow the truth pill: your husband is dead. he was the only one that kept you sane, made you want to live your life. but now that he's gone, what more is there to live for? you noclip out of reality and wake up in an office. its has yellow walls. damp tan carpet, fluorescent lights that illuminate every nook and cranny of this office space. you might not know it now, but you have just entered something sinister. stepping out of the office, you come to a surprise. every inch of this space that you're in is similar to each other. millions of square miles of yellow wallpaper, noisy fluorescent lights, and damp tan carpet. you think that this is a dream, you tell yourself "its just the grief" but as days pass by, you completely lose all sense of time and reality. you don't even feel hungry anymore. you're numb. you just want to get out of there. its only been a minute, but it feels like an eternity. you feel as if you're in a loop. you have been walking for days, every room is the same. nothing new. "its a maze" you tell yourself. the buzzing of the fluorescent lights make you lose your mind entirely. you start to see your husband. but as you were about to run towards him, he vanishes. you start to spiral out of control, screaming like a maniac. "LET ME OUT OF HERE!!" but no matter how hard you scream, how loud your voice is, no one is there to hear you. you're alone in a maze, you're beginning to lose your mind, the loneliness terrifies you. that's what you've always been afraid of, right? being alone? you were desperately clinging to your husband because he's the only one who hadn't left you when you needed him the most. but now that he's dead, how do you go on about your life? you only see yourself living life with your husband, but it's time to face reality. he's gone. there's nothing you can do to bring him back. cry yourself a river, that still won't bring him back. you sob in the middle of the office space. "how do i get out of here?" you ask yourself. the smell of the damp carpet, the buzzing of the lights, they made you even more insane, as this place drives you to complete insanity. you're numb, yet you can feel every type of pain in your body. you begin to walk again, but after a few minutes or seconds, at this point, who even knows?you hear a light growling. at the corner of your eye, you see a black, hairy figure. you feel your heart sink, even if you were numb, fear is something that will never go away. everything seemed to get blurry, your head was beginning to become clouded with millions of thoughts at the same time. but you're not a coward, you've had enough bullshit in this hell hole. you turn around, the creature snarling at you. it begins to come closer, and closer, and closer. you remember that you had a belt on, you start to whip the creature, it got intimidated. "how did that work?" you ask yourself. you stare at the creature, look at its eyes and see a void. it begins to back away. you also back away and attempt to escape, as you were about to reach a different hallway, the smell of the carpet makes you sneeze, and you lose that precious intimidating eye contact that was keeping that creature in check. it snarls, and speeds towards you. you run, and run, the fastest you have run in your entire life. you feel your heart beat a mile a minute as you run from that ghastly creature. after running for what feels like an eternity, you finally take a breather. "what was that thing?" you ask yourself. but considering this entire place, that thing was the only one that was keeping you from completely losing yourself. you find an exit sign and begin to walk towards it. it gets farther and farther every time you step closer to it. you hear your name being called. "janine! janine!!!" it's from a distance. you begin to decipher where the call is coming from, you then see a speaker in the corner of one of the office rooms. you recognize the voice, it was your husband's. you don't understand how his voice was in the speaker, was there even a speaker? is all of this even real? you begin to question everything that you see around you. you give in to the voice and answer "yes, honey?" there was silence. "honey, where am i?" the voice replies "honey, wake up." you think to yourself "what? why is telling me to wake up?" "honey, wake up." the speaker says again. "i'm so confused, honey, where are you?" you reply. "honey it's time to forget about me. you can't keep living like this anymore. accept the fact that i'm gone, i'm never coming back. please don't be scared of loneliness. the car crash wasn't your fault. so please, wake up." you began to fell down as the building collapsed around you, tears streaming down your face, with nothing left to do, and nothing left to say, you lightly whisper "honey, i love you." you wake up. in your bed, in your house, with your husband beside you. "what the fuck was that nightmare." you tell yourself. you come back to your usual life, go to the office, go home, repeat. you had forgotten about that nightmare already. you kiss your husband goodbye, and go to work. as you were entering the office, no one was there. literally no one. you hear the tv say "local news! a devastating car crash happened just 10 minutes ago here in down town mississippi, as a truck collides with an SUV at the intersection. you take a closer look at the corpses, you feel your heart start to sink. it was your husband. he died from the crash. you look around, your vision obviously blurry. you see the familiar yellow walls, fluorescent lights, and
damp,tan,
carpet.
