In the 1940's, a team of Russian researchers captured 5 individuals and tried to keep them awake for 30 days using methane gas. On the fifth day, the subjects stopped talking to each other.
On the 15th day, the reaserchers told them that they would pump oxygen and let the methane gas flow out and also check the microphones and told them to stay away from them to step away from the door and lay on the floor.
The scientists also mentioned that one of them would be freed. But an eerie voice came out of the speakers that said: "We no longer want to be freed." the subjects begged for the
methane gas to keep flowing.
The researchers ignored and the subjects screamed until one of the subject's vocal chords
slit. The researchers also realized that one of them died. The dead one was used as a food source for the other four.
And they too also began to eat their own flesh. One of the head scientists got so annoyed of the screaming that he shot the
subject and the others that were in that very room. Before he shot the last one, he asked: "what are you?" And the subject replied: "Have you forgotten so easily? We are you. We lurk in your deepest animal minds, begging to be freed."
The head scientist said nothing and shot the last subject.
