You woke up before the sunrise, got dressed and ready for work. The reason you knew how to stay in the grey area of the law was because you worked as a private investigator. You were actually considered one of the best in Japan.
"Hey, Y/n. You have been assigned to a different case," Your boss said as you walked into work.
"Oh? Mind giving me a run down of the case?" You asked.
"We are dealing with a vigilante that just manages to stay under our radar. I need you to analyze the limited footage we have of them," Your boss went on.
"And if you don't mind me asking, why have I been taken off my other case for this one? It seems pretty minor," You questioned.
"This case was brought forward by a pro hero who requested only the best work on it," He explained. The two of you walked into the room where you would review the footage to be greeted with an unexpected surprise. "Oh, I forgot to mention... You will be working with the hero who brought forward the case. Y/n, meet Ground Zero."
"Hello? Uh, it's nice to meet you," You said awkwardly as you shook his hand.
"Yeah, I know," He responded.
"Uh, boss... Can we speak in the halls?" You asked as you dragged your boss out the door and shut it behind you.
"What seems to be the problem?" He questioned.
"The problem is that I don't work with people?! I have always done cases on my own, and that is not about to change," You stated.
"Y/n... Working with Ground Zero on this case will put our office on the map! He is the number Two hero," Your boss went on.
"I don't work well with other people, especially heroes at that!" You said with folded arms.
"Hey! I don't have all year!? Get your ass in here so we can get started!" Ground Zero yelled from the room. Your boss looked at you with pleading eyes, you sighed as you slowly walked in.
"Let's get one thing straight here... You are not the boss, you are not even my partner, you are just here because my boss said you could be. Don't touch anything, and don't get in my way," You said as you shut the door behind you.
"First of all, I have more authority than you, secondly, the next time you speak to me like that I will request a different detective on this case," He said in a cocky manner as he put his feet up on the table and leaned back in his chair.
"Feet off the table..." You said as you kicked his chair legs making him take his feet off the table to regain his balance. You took out your computer and put in a disc that had the footage of the vigilante you were looking for. You almost wanted to burst out into laughter when you realized it was you.
"This villainous person is breaking the law and we need to take them in for the good of humanity! It is my job as a hero to stop people like that from possibly hurting other people. I will stop this vigilante and bring them to justice" Ground Zero monologued.
"Uh... Ground Zero? This supposed vigilante did not break any law-"
"They must have a mind quirk or something that cannot be detected by cameras!" He interrupted.
"If they had a mind quirk there would be a visible change in the criminals behaviour and demeanor, not to mention a vigilante wouldn't make the risky play of having guns aimed at them if they had a mind control quirk," You stated as you tapped your foot impatiently. "This is an opened and closed case."
"The case is not closed until I say it is! This person is a menace, I just know it!" He said angrily.
"What is with your personal vendetta against this person?" You grew more impatient.
"ALL VIGILANTE'S CHEATED THEIR WAY TO HEROISM! ALL VIGILANTE'S ARE UNTRAINED AND MAKE FATAL MISTAKES! ALL VIGILANTE'S BELONG BEHIND BARS!" Ground Zero shouted as he slammed his hands down on the table.
"What happened to innocent until proven guilty? This person has done nothing wrong so we should not be calling them a vigilante until they commit vigilantism. It is the same as calling a random shark a murderer," You stated angrily.
"I can feel it in my gut, I know I am right," He shot back.
"Are you sure it's not just the office coffee? That stuff is really bad," You said in a patronizing tone.
"Shut up! All you are is a less cool version of a hero!"
"Like I would want to be a lazy narcissist who is only famous because of their quirk," You replied.
"I am not a fucking narcissist! And I worked hard to get where I am today!" Ground Zero shouted.
"Hummm... Y'know, I bet that is how our supposed vigilante feels," You smirked.
"What the hell are y-"
"I assumed who you were just based on the few heroes I have met... You assumed that that person was breaking the law in some way because they saved people without a hero's license and in your experience, anyone who does that is a vigilante," You interrupted him.
"Shut the fuck up! You don't know anything," Ground Zero said as he avoided eye contact with you.
"Actually I have a degree in criminology, and all you have is a degree in punching people... Look who knows nothing now," You said.
"I know more than just punching people!' Ground Zero said, slightly offended. Before you could respond you heard a knock at the door.
"I hope you two are getting along, Y/n is not used to working with people and can come off as cold or rude," Anzu, a colleague of yours said as she walked into the room.
"Y/n... Cold and rude? What, I didn't notice," Ground Zero said sarcastically. Anzu didn't really pick up the sarcasm, she wasn't the brightest.
"I am glad you stopped in but I think we need to get back to work," You said as you tapped your foot impatiently.
"Oh, yes! We wouldn't want to waste any time that we could be used to argue," He laughed.
"What's your name, cutie," Ground Zero said as he gestured for Anzu to walk in.
"M-my name? Oh, I'm Anzu," She said with an innocent smile.
"Well Anzu, wanna get some coffee later," Ground Zero said as he stood up and wrapped his arms around her waist.
"I-I would love that uh, Ground Zero," Anzu stuttered as she lit up with excitement.
"Call me Bakugo... Katsuki Bakugo," Ground Zero said as he winked at Anzu, making you want to gag.
"Alright then, Katsuki," Anzu said with a giggle.
"See you after I am done here," Ground Zero said as Anzu walked out of the room.
"Next time... Get a room. I feel like I need to bleach my eyes," You said in an irritated tone. ", Call me Bakugo... Katsuki Bakugo," You said mocking him "That literally screams, I have low self-esteem and a small dick so I am copying a line from James Bond because I can do nothing better."
"Damn, jealousy... It's okay, just admit you're jealous. It happens to the best of us," He laughed.
"You are actually delusional. Now let's get back to the part where you tell me I am right and that this person is not a vigilante," You said as the two of you sat back down at the table. The two of you spent the rest of the time arguing and shooting sly remarks back and forth. Once work was finally over you made your way home and put on your hero uniform? You still needed a name for that. And sat on your motorcycle listening to the police scanner waiting for something to do. After a few hours of sitting something you could actually help with came up.
"We have 451 code 2, at Nari road"
"Arson, and civilians injured... Sounds fun," You said as you drove off to the crime scene.
