Jennifer stop right there!''No!!' she yelled, 'I can't just stand there and pretend that everything is alright.'
'I know. I know' I whisper-yelled. The last thing I wanted was for some rogue to hear us. If only she thought about lowering her decibels.
'You don't!'
Behind her, in midst of the trees I see something move.
'Jenny.....'
Whatever was lurking in the shadows was probably waiting for the right time to strike or maybe...... maybe it was just a bypasser? Who was I kidding? This area was sealed off from human eyes. If there was someone here it would be a rogue. And Jennifer was doing everything to call it upon us.
'You don't have a mate!!'
I see another movement and then another and then it turns into a series only it was happening in shadows. And then I see it.... their fiery red eyes. No, it can't be.
'Jenny...... '
I quickly calculate the distance between us. If I take ten long strides and I will be right beside her. But the demons would be anticipating it. One false move on my part could be the doom of us. Without a second thought, I try to quickly cover the distance.
'You don't know how it feels to lose your mate, your better-half. I have lost my half' she falls down sobbing.
Only one step more and I would be shoulder-to-shoulder with her. What happens next was the least expected. I fall back on the ground just as I took the step. I look up to see if Jenny was alright. But she was nowhere to be seen. Where did she go? Brushing my cargo pants, I get up.
'She is not here, Princess'
My eyes frantically search for the source of the voice, catching many silhouettes in the process. The voice was the same from my dreams. The same voice which threatened me.
'She was never here. It was all but a illusion, Princess', the voice says, booming with laughter
Then I see Him. The blue eyes lined by red, the sharp jawline, full blood-red lips, straight slick-black hair gelled back. The same familiar face. Looks that any girl would fall for. Only he is a demon. It should have frightened me but on the contrary, I found myself looking him in the eye. Not blinking once. Challenging him.
15 secs......
30 secs......
45 secs......
60 secs......'Aaargh!! What the f***ing hell', he groaned, rubbing his eyes. Seeing his pathetic situation, I couldn't help but laugh.
'What did you do? What.... ', his words faded, eyes widened when something registered in his big fat brain. 'The Prophecy Luna' he mumbled.
What?!
'OK, buddy. I don't know you nor do you know me and as for the rubbish you are spitting I have no clue of it either. So, I say instead of wasting time lets go our separate ways. OK? It was nice to meet to you. Byee!!', I wave at him and turn around, bumping into a hard chest and falling back on the muddy floor.
'Not so soon, Sweety', I hear the new arrival say, right before I feel a sharp sting on my neck and then darkness.
