Author's Note:
I am so sorry this took 4 months for me to get out, in my defense I did start a new job and the past few weeks I have had COVID, which is not fun but I'm dealing with it. I am going to try and be better at uploading, but we'll see how that goes. Also Return to Mystic Falls is almost at 50k reads which I am very grateful for.
The breeze from the open French doors woke Landon early the next morning, he pushed himself up into a sitting position and looked around the bedroom with bleary eyes. his confusion soon faded when he saw Hope leaning on the balcony railings, he quickly climbed out of bed and pulled on his hoodie before making his way towards her. "Bad dream?" He guesses, standing next to her.
"Yeah. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to wake you," Hope apologises as she wipes at the tear stains on her cheeks. "I just needed some air."
"It's okay," Landon assures her, "but are you not cold" He gestures to the shorts and sports bra she had put on before bed.
"Not really," she shrugs, but turns back to the room, "perks of being a vampire, I guess. You look cold though," she points out and takes his hand, "let's go inside," she tells him softly and walks back into the room, closing the French doors behind them.
"Yeah, I like that idea," he nods and follows her back over to the bed, he leaves his hoodie on and pulls the blankets over them with Hope cuddling into his side.
"Thank you for coming to save me," Hope whispers into the darkness, "if they had completed that spell... I don't know what I would've done."
"I will always try to save you, just like I know that you will always try to save me," Landon promises.
Hope sat in the back of her family's private plane with Kol and Marcel, on their way back to Virginia. "Just focus," Kol whispers from his seat opposite her. Hope takes the advice and closes her eyes, taking a deep breathe before opening her eyes again. "Well that's different," Kol smiles as Marcel takes a picture of her face to show her, dark veins had appeared below her eyes and her irises had a golden glow with spots of blue.
"Okay, that's kinda cool," Hope admits as she takes a sip from a blood bag.
"Reminds me of your parents," Marcel smirks and turns to Hope.
Hope grins as the veins disappear and her eyes return to normal, she always liked it when people told her she looked like one of her parents or had something in common with them it left a warm feeling in her chest.
"They'd be so proud of you," Kol tells her. "Proud of the way you've handled all of this. Especially your father, he watched so many new vampires lose control."
"I wish they were here," Hope whispers sadly and leans her head against the window.
"I know you do," Marcel sighs, moving into the seat next to her and wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "I do too."
"We all do," Kol squeezes her hand gently.
On the other side of the plane, Rebekah, Davina, and Caroline sat discussing Hope's new situation. "With new vampires, we usually have them spend a semester taking classes to help them control their new strength," Caroline explains, "but since Hope's a tribrid, we don't have an instructor that could match her strength."
"Marcel and I are planning on staying in Mystic Falls for a few weeks, we can teach her," Rebekah offers, "but we do think that Hope needs to have human blood."
"That's against school policy," Caroline argues in a whisper.
"Yet, I'm pretty sure you haven't been drinking animal blood," Davina cuts in.
"Because I'm not likely to go on a killing spree," Caroline justifies.
"We get that you don't want to risk the vampires being rippers, but Hope isn't just a vampire," Rebekah tells the other blonde. "She's a tribrid, the only one to ever exist, and she's a Mikaelson. The past two days prove how much people want to hurt her; she'll need all of her strength if somebody comes after her again."
"Besides, the stronger she is, the more control she has over her magic. The last thing you want is a first-born Mikaelson witch to lose control of her powers," Davina fights back. "Kol and I were talking about seeing if Hope would want to move off campus for a while, we'd move into Klaus' old place with her and we'd be able to keep an eye on her."
"I could talk to Alaric and try and convince him to make an exception and let Hope drink human blood, but whatever decisions we make Hope has to be okay with," Caroline compromises. "We need to agree that her best interest comes first."
Not far from the three women, Lizzie and Josie sat with their arms wrapped around each other, "Jo," Lizzie mumbles against her twin's hair, "seeing Landon so heartbroken over Hope made me realise something."
"Same here," Josie nods, "You go first?"
"I think I like MG, as something more than a friend," the blonde admits quietly.
"I know," Josie smiles.
"You know?! How?" Lizzie pulls away shocked.
"So does Hope and Landon, we have for a while, we've had a few conversations about 'Mizzie' happening."
"Okay, so what did you realise, then?" Lizzie ignores the fact that her twin and best friend had discussed the fact that she clearly had a thing for one of their friends and focuses on the fact that Josie also had some news she needed to share.
Josie takes a deep breath as she sits up straight and takes a hold of Lizzie's hands, "I'm still in love with Penelope," she confesses. "I've known for a while, but I realised that I'm ready to try again with her, and I need you to be okay with it."
"But, Jo, she hurt you."
"I know, but she's also apologised. A lot. And I'm ready to forgive her. I love her."
"Okay. I'll try and be okay with it," Lizzie pulls her sister back in for a hug. "If she hurts you, I'll kill her."
"And if MG hurts you, I'll kill him."
When the plane landed at the airport, there were three different cars waiting to drive them all back to Mystic Falls, when they arrived at the school Caroline and Alaric showed the other four adults to a small conference room they had so they could discuss how to proceed with Hope over the next few weeks, the twins as well as MG and Kaleb went off to their rooms to put their bags away before dinner while Landon followed Hope to her room to hep her pack some clothes to take the Mikaelson manor, where she would spend the next week with her family.
"Won't it be weird, having to drive to school every day?" Landon asks as he folds her favourite pairs of jeans neatly.
"Yeah, and what's worse is that I only moved back in here two weeks ago," Hope laughs before she drops a pile of clothes onto her bed. "I'll probably still spend some nights here though, but I do think a week off will be good for me. It'll let me gain more control and then maybe there won't be someone stood outside my door constantly, listening to everything I do, to make sure I don't lose control."
"As long as it's what you want," Landon drops the jeans into the suitcase and wraps his arms around her.
"It is," Hope smiles, "especially with Freya and Keelin coming to visit as well. It's not often we're all together. This wasn't the way I wanted you to meet Rebekah and Marcel, though."
"I actually think it was better than how I met the rest of your family," Landon jokes.
Hope flushes a bright red, remembering the way he met Kol, "if I haven't apologised for Kol already, can I do it now?"
