Marcel and Davina stood on the back patio of the Mikaelson manor, watching Hope throw punches at the bag hanging from a tree, like she had been for the past hour. The last few days, they had all been helping Hope gain control over her blood thirst and her emotions and Marcel had spent a few hours each day helping her with her new heightened strength.
"Do you think she'll be ready for school next week?" Davina asks her father figure.
"She should be," Marcel answers, "as long as no one pisses her off too much."
Across the yard, the punching bag falls apart and Hope turns to them with a groan, "can I be done now?"
"Sure," Marcel yells across the open space.
"Once you've cleaned up Freya and I have a few spells we want to work on with you," Davina tells her as she walks by.
"Fine," Hope rolls her eyes as she hurries inside and towards her bedroom. She leans her phone against her makeup bag on the bathroom counter and clicks on the facetime button.
"Hey," Landon's face quickly appears on the screen.
"Hi," Hope smiles at him and begins pulling at the hair ties that held her ponytail in place. "How was your day?"
"Long and boring, what about yours?" Landon asks.
"Same," Hope pouts. "Marcel's had me working out for the past two hours and I spent the morning talking about my feelings with Freya."
"That explains why you look all sweaty," Landon realises.
"Yeah," Hope nods, "I'm gonna shower and then Freya and Davina have some spells they think I should learn or need to work on."
"At least you didn't have to wake up early, I know you don't like that."
"You're right, I don't," Hope finishes brushing out her hair and turns to the camera. "I should go, but we'll talk later. I love you."
"I love you too." Hope hits end call before removing her clothes and climbing into the shower.
After her magic lesson, they all sat down to eat dinner together just like they had done every evening since they arrived from Mexico. Things were still awkward and tense however, as Freya and Keelin were still upset that no one had told them Hope was in trouble, they had calmed down significantly since they first arrived in Mystic Falls a few days ago, but that didn't stop Freya from being annoyed.
"I cannot believe that Hope was abducted and none of you thought to call me!" Freya yells at her siblings, Marcel and Davina had went with Hope to the school so she could gather her things, leaving Kol and Rebekah with their angry older sister.
"We didn't think it would be a good idea, since Keelin's pregnant," Rebekah tries to explain.
"I'm pregnant not an invalid," Keelin defends herself.
"If you were there, Freya would be worried about you and the baby and be distracted," Kol argues, "and if you weren't there, you'd be worried about her and that isn't good for the baby."
"No! you don't get to do that," Freya shakes her head, "you don't get to defend your decision to not tell us, when if we were there, Hope might not have died!"
"You're right!" Rebekah admits, "you're right, but you can't tell us you wouldn't have worried about your pregnant wife, even if she was at home. And yes, maybe if you were there Hope wouldn't have died, but it might not have changed anything."
"And at the end of the day, Davina and I are her legal guardians, and it was our decision to leave you out of it and Hope agreed that it would have been a bad idea to tell you," Kol reasons calmly.
"Hope is sixteen and has just turned into a vampire, she isn't in the right frame of mind to decide if something was a bad idea or not," Freya rolls her eyes.
"Stop!" Keelin interrupts the three siblings, a hand resting over her growing stomach, "we have a right to be angry, but Hope needs us and all that matters is that she is okay and right now she's not, so we need to work together and help her through this because the two people she'll want the most right now are dead. And Klaus, Elijah and Hayley wouldn't want you at each other's throats when Hope has just gone through hell. So, when she's around we act like nothing is wrong, because she needs us to get through this."
"Fine," Freya huffs and walks upstairs, away from her siblings.
"We are sorry, for not telling you," Kol tells his sister-in-law.
"We just didn't want to put you or the baby at risk," Rebekah adds.
"It's okay," Keelin smiles at them softly before turning to follow her wife.
Hope glanced between a silent Freya and Kol and Rebekah before releasing a groan, "I get it, you're upset because they didn't tell you that I had been kidnapped," Hope tells the blonde witch, "but they're also the only family you have and the only family your kid is going to have so you should just forgive them already."
She excuses herself, before walking into the backyard and heading into the woods, she walks along the trail until she can no longer hear the sound of other people's hearts beating, sheds her clothes and turns into her wolf form. She runs in a random direction, letting the wolf decide where she goes, until she finds herself near the Salvatore school and sees Landon sitting against a tree with his notebook in hand. Landon's head shoots up when he hears a twig snap underneath her paw, "Hope?" He questions wearily, she walks towards him slowly and lays down next to him, "rough day?" She lets out a huff and rests her head on his thigh, as if to say yes.
They hadn't seen each other all week and even when she was in wolf form, being around Landon calmed her down, he sets his notebook down next to him and rests his head back on the tree. "This is weird, right?" He asks her before remembering that she couldn't reply, he knew she'd agree with him, but being around her still helped him relax.
They spent over an hour like that, until Hope decided that she should probably return to her family before they worried and came looking for her, she stood up and nudged the side of Landon's face with her nose to wake him up, "time for you to go back?" The wolf in front of him let out a huff. "I should get back too, it's getting late," he tells her, "text me when you get home," he grabs his notebook and watches her disappear into the shadow of the trees before heading back towards the school.
Author's Note:
I have one more chapter planned out for after this, I don't really have anything planned for a plot and I'm not really confident writing angst. I could continue this with lots of Handon fluff, or I could make a new book, set in this world, of one-shots, the main three being Handon, Mizzie and Posie, with some of Hope's family as well as Caroline, Alaric and Matt.
