Chapter twelve
Well, this is a shit show...
(A day and a half after the AOT squad arrived)
(Time skip)
(Yuna's POV)
Hmm- I've finally reached the village... damn Kaguya for sending me so far away! It's already night-time! I could already feel the veins on my forehead pulsing. Reigning in my annoyance I continued down the main street of the village and already, I could tell that this place has long since been abandoned. Shops and homes alike that lined the street, were dark and empty, many windows and doors were boarded up. I came to a stop. There doesn't feel as though there's much life left in this place, there's no one here. With that passing thought in mind, I moved to continue on but movement from the corner of my eye caught my attention. Quickly turning, I found myself standing just outside of a shaded alley. There was definitely something in there- not to sound conceited or anything, but I wouldn't be a hashira if I couldn't even distinguish that.
Knowing my mission here was to investigate, I took no time in moving into the alley. Upon moving further in I noticed dark stains splashed across the walls and a putrid stench filled my nose. The stains on the walls alone already put me on high alert; the smell did nothing to ease the tension building in my body, yet I continued deeper into the darkness. It wasn't long until I stood in front of a devastating sight. There in front of me were the already decomposing bodies of what I assume were a couple. One body sprawled on the floor, missing several limbs, while the other was propped on the wall with a katana laying not too far from them. It didn't take a genius to know what happened here, this couple was obviously attacked by the demons I came here to eradicate.
Keeping my eyes on the bodies, my ears picked up on the soft sounds of shuffling. The slow movement was obviously a deliberate attempt to keep quiet, yet it wasn't quite enough to escape my ears. I turned my attention in the direction of the shuffling, and I caught sight of some dusty crates stacked around in one corner of the alley. I didn't take my sights off from the boxes and soon enough a dreary set of eyes peeked over one of the crates. Whoever it was noticed I was looking directly at them and quickly ducked down once more, all while muffling a startled gasp. Knowing that there was a civilian left in the town, I allowed a deep sigh to escape my mouth, one of both relief yet exasperation. I moved closer to the corner and stepped up onto the crate I saw the eyes peek over- looking down I was instantly met with the eyes I met not long before, belonging to a weary face of a young boy who couldn't have been that older than Kaito.
On instinct, I caught the oncoming fist that was directed at my face. What the hell, I haven't even been standing in front of him for a minute and he was already trying to attack me- Having a firm grip on the quivering fist I brought it down and away from my face and looked straight into the eyes of the young boy in front of me. "Hey kid. That was a little uncalled for don't you think?" My question seemed to snap him out of whatever trance he was in, and his eyes widened in shock seeing his fist in my hand. "Ah- I-I'm SOSORRY!!!" His sudden outburst surprised me and caused me to release the grip I had on him; in an instant the poor boy had his head touching the floor, bowing in front of me from where I was now crouched on the crate.
