"What do you think gives you power?" Dream asked. His words echoed through the hollow halls of the throne room. Eret sat rigidly on his thrown. Her eyes narrowed through the pitch black sunglasses on her face. Dream knew about the aid they were giving Pogtopia. He had to. Why else would he show up unannounced? And leading with that statement. No. Not statement. Threat.

"Is it your crown?" As Dream spoke the crown seemed to become heavier on Eret's head. A reminder of the lives he took. The friendships he destroyed. His biggest mistake.

"Is it the fact that you're king?" Eret's brows furrowed. They knew they were nothing but a figurehead. Dream had made that very clear. He had betrayed his friends for nothing more than a pointless title. No one respected her and both occupants in the room knew it.

"What is stopping someone from placing a dagger in your back?" What is stopping you from placing a dagger in my back, Eret thought. To Dream people were tools. That's all Eret had been. That's all Eret would be. But now Eret was a broken tool. He was going against what Dream wanted.

"Remember who gave you power? It was me. And I can take that power away too." Dream began to approach the King. Each step creating a echo that seem to emphasize the masked figure's hand on his sword. Eret stood as Dream approached. Their eyes locked with the man in green.

"If having power means my friends must die, then I don't want it," Eret said unwavering. They then reached up and removed the crown from their head and held it in the space between them and Dream. They then released their hold and the crown shattered on the floor. Before Dream could properly react, Eret silently stroud out of the throne room. They wouldn't be making the same mistake again.
