It was dark

It was dark. This was the one time the temperature was under 80 degrees in the desert of Afghanistan. Lieutenant Esther Avery walked out of her tent dressed in her uniform, she sighed and closed her eyes tilting her head up towards the sky as the cool breeze blew through the air. Tonight her and her unit were going to move engage in a mission they had been planning for months.

The sounds of laughter broke her out of her slightly peaceful moment and she looked over to see some of the unit members stood in a circle while they pushed another man around in the circle like a pinball.

Esther scoffed and shook her head, being the only woman on a team filled with 25-30 year old men who like to act like they're 10 is not for the weak. She walked over to them and cleared her throat loudly.

"I'm going to assume that since you're all screwing around that you've all triple checked your gear and weapons for our mission tonight." Esther said crossing her arms over her chest and the men quickly stood up standing in a line saluting her, "as you were."

"Yes, Lieutenant." They all said

"Good, because it's time to head out. Stay sharp everyone comes home tonight." Esther said as the men all made sounds of agreement before grabbing their gear.

"Do you think they'll be ready?" Esther's friend Derek asked as he walked beside her, Derek is their technical adviser and responsible for hacking into terror networks to find locations and plans of different organizations on their watchlist he took Mouse's spot when he didn't reenlisted

"They have to be. If it is really Ladhala behind all of this then we need to get it done now before he goes underground." Esther responded clenching her jaw

Davon Ladhala is an Afghan rebel who Esther and her team have been chasing for 6 months, he is responsible for the rape and murder of 15 women and 7 children. It has been suspected that there are more victims but they haven't been able to find any solid evidence. Yesterday Esther's team got word from surveillance that Ladhala has taken a women's refugee camp hostage and has already killed 5 people.

They spent the entire day yesterday looking over blueprints of the camp and it's structure to find the best way to breach, they went over every detail at least four times and it was obvious that this was an incredibly complex mission with no room for error.

It was decided for them to move in at night because there was a good chance Ladhala and his men wouldn't expect it and would have their guard down.

"Good luck." Derek said patting her shoulder

"Thanks. I think we'll need it." Esther smiled before jogging to her vehicle and getting in along with 2 other members
