There were times when Kazuya Sasaki despised any positive emotions. He knew that he should be sad at the moment. Perhaps he should be so distraught in misery that tears should be dribbling down his sunburnt cheeks. Maybe he was supposed to be staring up at his ceiling at if it was a void that would swallow him at any second.

Instead he only felt the purest form of solace as he lay upon his messy sheets, a soft smile upon his face at the realization he had come to mere moments prior. It had been a long conversation in his own thoughts, a seemingly harsh game of tug o' war that had been one sided all along.

Kazuya only opened his eyes when his door creaked open. Michi watched her son curiously for a brief moment before stepping inside.

"Are you hungry, 'Zuya?" She asked softly. He could tell that she wanted to ask him something, especially with the deadline being tomorrow, but she gave him his space. "It's just about dinnertime, but Mio was thinking we go out for tonight."

"Takoyaki sounds good right now," he offered as he sat up. "Chinese too."

Michi couldn't help but smile (her father was Chinese and being smack dab in the middle of Japan it wasn't often that she got to experience that half of her culture). "Chinese sounds wonderful right about now. A nice, warm, refreshing bowl of Wonton soup."

Kazuya nodded in agreement, although he preferred chicken fried rice.

"I know I must have been stressing you and Mom out, especially with the school year starting in a few days," he noted as he slipped a pair of socks on.

"Well... I suppose it has been a bit overwhelming. Whatever you choose sort of changes the course of our whole lives, but it's our duty to stick by your side."

Kazuya grinned and pecked her cheek quickly, before stepping out into the hallway.

"Don't worry, Mom. It'll be alright."
