Online Friends

     June 25, 2045. It was a nice warm, sunny day outside. Usually you would see kids running around outside or swimming or just being out in general. That's not the case for Leila though. Instead, she's up in her room with the window open to feel the somewhat cool breeze as she is playing Minecraft on her computer.

     The house was pretty quiet aside from the distant clink of metal as her mom was making lunch and her younger brother was running around with his friends in the backyard. Her dad was out at work so he could make some more money for Leila's upcoming birthday. She wasn't thinking much about that though. She was just focused on playing with her friend. She'd met him on a server before and they'd started talking right after she'd complimented his name. "Astrologic." She found it really cool as she'd always been a giant fan of astrology and found out a couple days later after they'd become friends that he did too. They had a lot more in common than they'd first thought actually. Like their love for the color yellow, their distaste for broccoli, among other things.

     Leila slipped her headphones on and logged onto Astrologic's server, waiting in anticipation as it loaded.

     As soon as it was fully loaded she slipped her mic down, making sure not to yell this time. "Hey Astro," she said. "New survival today?" His character nodded to answer her question before he loaded his mic as well. "I figured since we've already built a lot on that creative world that we should make a survival world to, you know, mix it up a bit." His voice had always been a melody to her. It always surprised her that he's still a second year like her when he almost sounded like an adult. His voice was nice to listen to though so she never really said anything about it.

     They played for hours on end without even realizing it. Soon enough though Astrologic noticed the time and chuckled. "Pond, I think you should go to bed," he said. "Just look at the time." Leila finally looked at the time and gasped. "Crap! I have a test tomorrow!" she exclaimed. "I'll see you tomorrow Astro." And with that she logged off for the day which left Astro smiling to himself before he logged off as well. Leila was rushing to do her nightly routine before she jumped into bed and began the challenge of trying to fall asleep.

Yes this is short, it's only the first chapter/prolouge/introduction to what's gonna happen kind of but it will (hopefully, probably not) get better then this first chapter. Length will increase though I can say that I wrote quite a bit for 2 and 3 so far. See you next time!
