The courtroom was silent apart from the periodical yawning emitting from the Lord who's head was slumped on the bench as he napped while Mirai sighed and side eyed him from her position in the centre of the room. This was the sixth time this week the pair had been asked to court for crimes against the state. Admittedly, it was her "hobby" that enabled him to commit his crimes however she never told him to do that.

"According to section 45A of The Rules of The Sidewalk, published in 1921 at the time of 15:48 under the BeaverBear Publishing House, on page 46 line 4 it states that privately owned property are exempt from investigations regarding public affairs. My client was on private property at the time of the incident, meaning the PUBLIC accident of the equalist vehicle crashing into the cabbage cart after a mysterious explosion had NOTHING to do with him. He wasn't even IN PUBLIC meaning he's innocent." Mirai coaxed the jury, "this is just a case of he was in the arguably wrong place at the wrong time. if anything your pressing desire to convict him is just another example of your prejudice against non benders. Mr Kato, correct me if i'm wrong but is this not your 12th hearing this week in attempts to prosecute a non bender?"

"Yes but-"

"Judge Nakamura, i would like to put in a request for this hearing to be delayed until Mr Kato aligns himself with the correct morals and ethos suitable for this institution and the constitution we fight for. In a court of law, blatant discrimination should be accounted for. If Mr Kato can't bring himself to act like a decent person for the sake of his career then i also ask for a change in prosecutor." Mirai lowered her papers and turned to face the judge, who just happened to be her uncle under pure coincidence and definitely not because the Nakamura name which she inherited carries the legacy of those who worked beside Avatar Aang to bring justice to Repiblic City. Yes, her ability to get what she wanted had nothing to do with the fact that the courthouse they were in was named The Nakamura Court.

After what seemed like careful deliberation the Judge nodded thoughtfully and tapped his gavel on the block. "Very well Miss Nakamura, you will be hearing from us regarding your new date and location soon. Court is dismissed." the sound of the gavel was not enough to wake up Ronin and instead the sound of what he perceived to be victory brought him back from the brink of death.

Mirai gathered her things and waited for Ronin to finish his stretch routine before they could leave. This took an arduous amount of time and she took note to not underestimate his ability to procrastinate under any and every circumstance. "Ronin we need to leave before they change their mind."

"You literally own this building, i have stretches to do, go bother the detectives about how much they suck."

"I'll leave you to do the honours, My Lord" she rolled her eyes at his yoga pose before dragging him by the arm and out the door. On the way out they passed two pathetically frantic detectives who looked like their careers were hanging on the result of this hearing, which it was. Mirai kept a close grip on Ronin in case he decided make a run for it towards the complementary cakes. Instead he wriggled out of her grip and followed the detectives.

"HEY LOSERS! ACCORDING TO SECTION I FUCKED YOUR MOM LAST NIGHT, YOU SUCK!" Ronin shouted at them across the corridor before letting out a sigh and brushing off his blazer. He turned to Mirai and flashed a charismatic grin, "we can go now."

As they were leaving they were stopped by all too familiar face, the infamous eldest child of the Date Family.
