By the time they got back to base, everyone was absolutely exhausted. It hadn't been a problematic rescue, but they had cut the exit a bit close. Thankfully, the employees at District 9 hadn't had time to get to cars and chase them so they had lost them fairly easily after leaving.
To protect them from any danger, Soobin put a protective barrier up around the entire bus so any spells or bullets would simply bounce off until they were well away from the compound. Yeonjun, on the other hand, decided that it was a good idea to set the entire facility up in flames and leave it to burn to ash behind them (which the others wholeheartedly agreed with). He knew that everyone in the cells was out because, up until the others had arrived, it had just been him, Soobin, Taehyun, Beomgyu, and HueningKai. Burning it to the ground would ensure that no one would ever have to subject themselves to the torture they did again.
By the time they arrived back at base, everyone was exhausted. They all filed out of the bus once it was parked. Some were supporting others and helping them walk, and Jongho was carrying Lee Know, who was still unconscious despite both Chan and Seonghwa's combined efforts on the way back. They went as fast as possible to the house, Jongho and Chan taking Lee Know straight to his room to let him rest. While they were doing this, the members of both ATEEZ got everyone to sit down in various places throughout the lounge room so that Seonghwa could check if the people who he hadn't seen yet had any injuries that needed his attention before going to continue on Lee Know.
Once Seonghwa had left and healed what and who he could, Hongjoong stood up to address all the remaining people.
"I can't even begin to imagine what you all have been through these past few weeks, and some of you years." He began, his gaze centred on the people who had been kidnapped. "But I promise we will do everything we can to help you." He added. He then focused on the five young but new boys that they had rescued. "That goes for you five as well. Anything you need, just let us know. Don't be afraid to ask." Hongjoong said. "We'll set up rooms for you five, but you will have to share as there are only two spare rooms." He stated. HueningKai looked at the older boy with wonder sparkling in his dark brown eyes.
"Really? You would do that for us?" He asked hopefully. Hongjoong smiled at him.
"Of course. I am assuming you five don't have anywhere to go and you don't want to be parted from each other. Plus, like I said, we have two spare rooms which can easily be converted into bedrooms so you can share those between yourselves." Hongjoong replied kindly.
"Thank you all so much for rescuing the five of us from District 9." Soobin thanked them all graciously, a smile on his face and bowing as he did so.Before anyone could say anything in reply, Seonghwa and Chan re-entered the room, attracting everyone's attention.
"How is he?" Han asked immediately, voicing everyone's unspoken question.
"He's still unconscious but he is stable." Seonghwa revealed. A collective sigh of relief was released once he said this.
"I think everyone should rest. It's been a long day." Chan commented. Everyone agreed with this and they then all split off to go to their rooms. Hongjoong, Seonghwa and Yeosang, however, stayed back so they could find somewhere for the five new members to sleep.*A little while later*
Yeosang was sitting on his bed meditating, trying to clear his mind of all the worries he was having. They were all home and Wooyoung had told him that District 9 had been destroyed, so why was he still feeling unsettled? It's probably because of Lee Know's condition. He reassured himself. Suddenly, his mind was transported elsewhere and he knew he was having a vision.
He didn't know where he was and the location was very hazy and different, but he could see two people up ahead and they seemed to be in some sort of argument. He walked closer so he could hear what they were saying.
"-OU LET THEM ESCAPE?" A voice shouted. The voice was very deep, clearly a man's voice.
"Sir, we didn't have a chance to catch them or even stop them. The rescuers clearly had inside information and they disabled all our security systems before entering. We don't know how or even who it was." Another voice replied. This voice was much higher, seemingly a woman's voice.
"Do we at least have the information we already collected on the subjects? Or have you lost that too?"
"They seemed to have erased everything. Not just on the newer subjects, but on ALL of them." The woman said nervously. Yeosang could tell that she was scared that the man would get angry.
"We need to get them back." The man all but growled. Yeosang could hear the anger in his voice.
"But Sir, the District 9 facility has been destroyed and many of the staff perished in the fire. Also, we have no idea where they are or even how many there are." The woman reasoned.
"What is going on here?" A voice that Yeosang recognised said. The voice sent shivers down his spine and he immediately knew who it was. Kim Woojin himself then came into view. Despite Woojin helping them to rescue the others, many of them had not forgiven him. Yeosang certainly hadn't.
"Mr Kim!" The woman squeaked, noticing the CEO who did not have even close to a happy look on his face.
"District 9 has been destroyed and many of the staff killed. The subjects had been broken out and they seem to have destroyed it after they escaped." The man explained. Woojin's expression hardened.
"I will not allow this to happen again so I am shutting down the District 9 program for good." Woojin stated, his tone had a clear finality to it. Despite his dislike for the man, Yeosang would admit that what he just did and how he phrased it was cleaver. He said 'this' which could mean so many different things, but obviously both the unnamed man and woman did not pick up on it as Yeosang had. After everything that Woojin had provided them with, Yeosang was fairly sure that Woojin wasn't referring to the fire...
"But Sir!-" The woman objected. Woojin's hard expression did not falter.
"No objections. As of this moment, District 9 will no longer receive any support or funding for any form of research or reconstruction, nor will it be allowed to even open its doors ever again." Woojin stated. Neither the man or woman had anything to say to this. They both just stood there in shock. Yeosang smiled at his mini-speech. Even though he hadn't forgiven Woojin completely for betraying them, he couldn't deny him the credit he deserved for helping them and many others that could have potentially been kidnapped and tortured by the curse that had been District 9.--------
A/N: Thank you everyone for reading, I truly appreciate your support! I'm sad this is over but all stories must come to an end eventually. Let me know what you thought of the ending. Oh, and for those wondering about Lee Know, he will be perfectly fine and he will recover fully :)
