Light. That's all that he could see; nothing but bright, bright, blinding light.
He lifted one of his arms, trying to block out the blinding rays. He was able to see the silhouette of his own hand, so, he was partially successful — but, there was so much of the light there, his hand hardly even did anything.
"Spongebob?"
Spongebob — who, apparently, had been lying down on the ground, since the upper half of his body bolted up so that he was now sitting upright — jumped upon hearing someone call his name. A disturbingly strong fearful feeling took over his body, until he realized who the voice had belonged to, and the fear was replaced with warmth and joy.
"Squidward?"
Spongebob's head whipped around as he tried to locate where Squidward's voice had come from. He was blinking rapidly as his eyes slowly adjusted to the light. Eventually, he was able to make out the silhouette of his dear octopus friend, and he felt his heart soften at just the realization that Squidward was really there with him.
Squidward almost instantly darted over to him, and knelt down at his side the exact moment that he was right up against him. Spongebob felt Squidward's tentacles run across his spongey body — checking his limbs, his head, lifting certain parts of his clothing to check covered spots as well. He was more than happy to accept the touches — in fact, he had to contain the intense urge to moan in delight each and every time he felt Squidward touch yet another spot of him.
Although, he was very confused as to why Squidward was doing this. Was something the matter? He decided not to ask — he had nothing to say, anyways. His mind wasn't cooperating with him. Instead of really focusing on the actual situation at hand, his brain was squealing like a child about how Squidward was touching him, and it refused to stop until Squidward stopped.
Thankfully, Squidward soon finished whatever it was that he was doing and fell back, adjusting himself so that he was sitting in a much more comfortable position, and let out a long sigh of relief.
"Are you okay?" Squidward asked. Spongebob nodded meekly and instinctively sent a tender smile Squidward's way. Squidward returned the smile, and Spongebob felt warmth bloom in his chest. He had never seen Squidward smile like that before — genuinely happy and calm, so sweet and gentle. The more he looked at it, the more he processed just how beautiful Squidward's smile was. Just seeing it then made him desperately wish that he would show it off more often; it was the prettiest thing Spongebob had ever seen, and it truly was a shame that he wouldn't get to see it often.
"Where are we?" Spongebob asked, finally able to speak.
Squidward looked around at their surroundings, and then looked back at Spongebob.
"A dream." Squidward answered. Spongebob looked at him, bewilderment making it's presence clear through the expression on his face. Shortly after that, he realized his eyes had finally adjusted to the light — he was actually able to see now. Almost immediately, he stood up and scanned his surroundings.
He was quick to figure out that this dream was taking place in Jellyfish Fields. That was rather obvious thanks to the fact that Spongebob had been here several times before and in almost no time at all was able to recognize the sea grass-covered ground and the gorgeous jellyfish-filled skies.
