A/N: Ey bois, ready again for another chapter?
Happiness was a privilege Salem didn't get to enjoy often.
While she did partake in the usual amusement of seeing Ozma's plans fall and her plans bear fruit, it simply couldn't compare to the happiness that was bubbling within her being.
The small day-long journey had been very, very fruitful. Not only did she get to stretch out her powers and let loose, but she had also gained herself a powerful asset and most importantly, a son within the child who was asleep on her lap.
And his loyal Beowolf named Io.
Seeing his peaceful expression, Salem smiled and played with the soft locks of his hair. Her son was just so adorable and beautiful. And she'd explore more of his magnificence in the coming future.
A pup barked beside her and she merely chuckled. "Wait your turn, young one."
For the first time in centuries, Salem felt free and happy.
After what had happened, who wouldn't be? She could just laugh out loud without a care in the world if just to show how joyous this day had been.
There was no one else save for her child and his pups up here in the sky.
The wind blew across her hair, discretely protecting Y/N as her Nevermore transport sped through the air. Kissing her noble etiquette goodbye for a brief moment, she spread her arms to both sides and breathed in audibly, then an exhale.
"The sweet smell of victory."
Suck it, Ozma.
She opened her eyes to see the dark skies of her wonderful abode.
One way to describe the entire place was a vile, horrible mess. The sky was a dark myriad of red's many shades, from crimson to the darkest maroon.
The moon shone upon the broken landscape of floating rocks and giant, protruding cliffs all pointed towards the sky, almost as if something gigantic had punched the land. Dark crystals of varying shapes formed all over the cliffs. Black pools bubbled and boiled to give birth to the Grimm.
This was the Land of Darkness, the former abode of the God of Darkness.
It sounded what youngsters these days would call edgy, yes.
But it was home sweet home.
As the Nevermore landed in front of the entrance of the Evernight Castle, Salem carefully lifted Y/N as to not wake him from his content slumber. Once more, she found herself surprised at her child's little size and weight.
