Izzy's POVFuck. I hate moving. Surely I should have done it enough by now to get used to it, but no, I still can't bring myself to enjoy packing and carrying and unpacking what feels like hundreds of heavy ass boxes. But thanks to my dad's work, it's a process we go through far too often for my taste.
At least this new place was nice. Scratch that, gorgeous, the house was a large white structure that looked relatively modern, with big pillars supporting an incredible white balcony that looked like it was straight out of Romeo and Juliet.
This street is insane I thought as I gazed down the wide avenue lined with trees, sports cars and equally amazing mini mansions. The house next to us was even bigger than ours, with a wide lawn filled with hedges and rose gardens, you know, just your typical rich people shit.
Normally we moved to far less glamourous locations but my dad's work was paying for this fancy house and we weren't complaining.
"Not too bad huh?" my dad laughed as he carried a box up the steps to the French doors at the front of the house.
"Honestly, I was expecting better, but I think I'll manage" I responded wryly as I heaved my bag out of the moving truck.
"Shut up, Izzy". My brother Tyler sprinted past me, grinning like a child, "This place is fucking huge! Whoever your boss is Dad, I love them."
God, was this long garden path to the front door really necessary? Not ideally suited to dragging a suitcase along.
"Found them!" my dad announced loudly, brandishing the house keys in Tyler's face before using them to unlock the fancy doors.
I abandoned my bag and rushed inside and had to pick my jaw up off the floor, and I thought the outside of the house was nice. Marble floors, a wide staircase, and fancy abstract art on the walls, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a ballroom down the hall.
"Holy shit!!" Tyler echoed my thoughts.
Regaining my senses, I immediately ran up the staircase to get a bigger bedroom than my brother, "SHOTGUN!" I screamed as I entered one of the nicest rooms I'd ever seen.
It was nearly all white, with high ceilings, a king sized bed in the centre of the room, and best of all, sunlight was streaming through a huge window with a view of the house next door. Even better, was the seat underneath it, and also a large built in bookcase, perfect for all the books I convinced myself I would eventually read.
Just as I flopped down on the bed in satisfaction and was admiring how comfortable it was, my brother barged into the room, furious.
"You bitch! You took the biggest room!"
"Shame" I smirked. "Now, get out. Better go find another room because this one is taken, unfortunately for you"
"But I wanted this one", he whined.
I snorted, "What are you? 5? Get out."
I smiled sweetly at him as he exited my room, muttering something under his breath about a cold hearted bitch and revenge. After lying on my bed mulling over the ways in which Tyler would attack me, I eventually got up and started unpacking my stuff.
I brought up so many boxes and bags that I couldn't see the floor beneath them. And thus commenced one of the most boring hours of my life, one that consisted entirely of stacking books on the shelves, placing random shit on the desk, and freaking out over the size of my new wardrobe.
This moving stuff really is boring, not only, but it also really sucks sometimes. Having to uproot your entire life to a new place and leave everything behind wasn't the easiest process, and during my 17 years of life I'd done it at least 8 times.
