You shivered as another gust of wind blew past you. You pulled your scarf tighter around your neck. There were voices screaming in your head, telling you to turn around and go home. Why were you even out here so late at night by yourself? Especially when you knew there were not only werewolves out here, but hunters, and a murderer.

You knew why you were out there
Derek Hale.

You had to make sure he was okay. He seemed fine when he left with Scott to go who knows where. He had to “show” him what hunters could do or something along that line.

So here you were, trekking through the woods in the middle of the night, looking for Derek Hale.

Derek’s old home wasn’t that far from your house. You had Lydia drop you off before she went over to Jackson’s place. You didn’t tell her why you were heading to the dark woods in the middle of the night. She was very firm about saying no at first. Until you told her you were going out here to meet a boy, you needed her to help cover you from Stiles. She beamed at that response and wasted no time driving you out there.

“He couldn’t meet you at a nice restaurant or something?” She asked, a little bit hesitant about dropping off her best friend in the middle of the woods at night for a boy she had never met before.

“I’ll be fine. I'll text you every 30 minutes. If I don’t text you in an hour, you can tell my dad I went for a run and didn’t come back.” You said as you got out of her car. You took a deep breath and walked into the woods.

That was about 15 minutes ago. You should have been at the house by now. You brought out your phone to text Lydia that you were okay and not to worry, even though you were starting to hear your own heartbeat. Just as you hit send, you felt a hand grab your arm.

You turned to face your attacker, ready to put years of selfdefense classes your dad forced you to take in action. But you were met with a pair of slightly concerned green eyes.

“What are you doing out here?” Derek Hale asked, slight concern laced his voice. Even though it was pitch black out here, you were able to quickly look him over once. His hair was wet, and the shirt he was wearing was slightly damp as well. He must've just gotten out of the shower because you could smell a faint hint of aftershave and mens shampoo. His face was looking much better than before. The color of his skin was back to normal. He was no longer pale like a sheet, and the black veins that ran through his arms earlier had disappeared. These small details brought some reassurance to your heart.

“I. Uh. Was just…”

“Do you know how dangerous it is out here? The Alpha is still on the loose. How could you be so stupid?” He scolded.

Suddenly you felt like you were a five year old kid who had just gotten caught with their hand in the cookie jar. You looked down at your shoes, not wanting to look into his eyes.
