"I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you simply, without problems or pride: I love you in this way because I do not know any other way of loving but this, in which there is no I or you, so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand, so intimate that when I fall asleep your eyes close."
― Pablo Neruda

Months have passed and before we knew it, it was already Christmas.

KatKat's gotten bolder lately and I cannot complain. I like that feisty side of her.

Today was a special day. There was something I wanted to give as a gift to Angel and I was nervous about her reaction.

If she didn't like it that would be devastating for me. Everyone helped me with this.

"Baby, I want to take you somewhere" KatKat tilted her head slightly with curiosity.

"Do I have to dress nicely?"

"No Angel, just wear something very very warm"

She always got excited when I got her out. She's been opening up a lot more and she's not even aware of it. That change in her makes me happy.

KatKat is finally being herself and she is shining. I could tell she is finally happy and I can't be happier.

"Jake, what if she doesn't like it?" I called Jake in a hurry while KatKat was getting ready.

"Why wouldn't she? You said she loved it the last time!"

"Yeah Jake, but last time I didn't ask her to marry me" I was on edge. Nervous at the possibility that she'll say no.

"You'll be fine man, just be yourself. She loves you for who you are so just trust your instincts alright? Call me later to tell me the news"

As we both got in the car I got more nervous. Despite the cold weather I was sweating. This was a big issue.

It took us an hour to get there but it was all worth it when I saw her expression.

"Is this what I think it is?" She asked in awe.

"Yes, baby. You said it once that you were curious to see a frozen waterfall so I brought you to one."

I took out a blanket and placed it on the snow. With another blanket we covered ourselves.

"KatKat...I want to tell you my story." I said looking at the waterfall. It wasn't easy for me but I knew I had to do it.

She remained silent giving me the time to collect my thoughts.

"My parents died when Jake and I were young. They went on a trip to celebrate their wedding anniversary. At that time in Haiti there was an earthquake and the hotel they were in collapsed. They died right away. My grandparents from my mother's side took me and the grandparents of my father's side took Jake. We didn't want to get separated but it was hard for them to take care of both. They were over 60 at that time and my grandpa on my mother's side had partial paralysis which prevented him from walking. Long story short, we grew up separated. As time passed we grew apart. Somehow we ended up working in the same field and we got along well again."
