I sat there shocked. I knew he had an angle, but it still doesn't answer the question of me. Why he wanted me. What could he possibly gain by asking for me to go? I'm snapped out of my thoughts when Tommy spoke.
"That green-cloaked bastard! He's always trying to one-up us! He's going to try and-" Tommy was interupted by Wilbur, "Tommy enough!" He commanded as he stood up from his chair. This shut the boy up. He just stared at Wilbur as he slowly walked up to him, put his hands on Tommy's shoulders, and looked directly into his eyes.
"I know you and Dream have had your differences Toms, but the fighting is over. We earned what we fought for, it's a time of peace. Let's not start unnecessary conflict with past grudges. We are about to meet two whole new kingdoms, we don't want them to see us as dysfunctional and at each other's throats." I was quite started by the gentle yet strict tone Wilbur was using, he sounded like he was scolding his own son about something dangerous. "Besides, this isn't your call to make. It's Y/n's decision to go, otherwise I'll go in her place."
He took his hands off Tommy, both of them looked at me. 'Oh great, they want me to decide things. How fun.' "Well Y/n? Are you up to it? If you're not comfortable with this you can back out, I wouldn't hold anything against you."
I kinda just stared at them. They want me to chose between going to a new kingdom, with dream. No sorry two Kingdoms, and staying here to help fill in for Wilbur. "I- well. Ummm-" I can't seem to form words, so we just stand there in more silence. I took this time to grab all my thoughts and sort them out.
Wilbur going with Dream is definitely a problem. He does quite a lot for the kingdom and having to do his job plus what we normally do is a big task. On the other hand my place in the kingdom is much easier to fill. All I do is make sure the staff around the palace and Willbur's office are doing what they were told and meet deadlines on anything important. But do I really want to go with Dream? Is it that much of a deal anyway? I sighed. I brought my attention back to the two people still staring at me. "I'll go. My job is much easier to find someone to fill anyways. I'll be fine."
Wilbur smiled and nodded. "It's decided then. Tommy, go write a letter to Philza and make an announcement to the staff. Y/n you go get ready. You'll be leaving in a few days. I on the other hand should get some sleep, or coffee. Whatever happens first. You are dismissed." Tommy nods and runs off. I give Wilbur the 'you better go sleep' look before leaving to get ready. I have a feeling our trip is going to be very... life changing.
》Time Skip to the day you leave《
The next few days came and went quickly. I was focused on finding someone to fill my position as well as getting my skeleton horse ready for the trip- His name was McRibs. I also had to brush up on the history of the two kingdoms and my skills with a sword, you can never be too prepared. I had no odea what I was getting into but I have to do it- for Wilbur and the rest of Dreamspire. This was a once-in-a-lifetime chance to built good relations with two new nations and I had to make sure I wouldn't screw this up.
》◇《
The day of departure had arrived too soon- I don't feel ready for this. I tried not to think of the challenges ahead as pulled the satchels for McRibs full of my stuff off the stable wall and onto his spine.
It's specially designed to spread the weight throughout his body to make him faster and keep his bones from cracking. His echoey neigh told me he felt it. "Sorry buddy, but we have a lot to bring with us. So you're just going to have to bare with me."
He shifted his weight as I finished setting everything up. I gave him a Potion of harming to keep his strength up before walking him out to the front of the castle. Dream was waiting for me there, on his armored brown horse. His white mask covered most of his face but you could still see his mouth. It was in a thin line.
He said nothing but nodded at me when I arrived. I nodded back and got on McRibs. Then Wilbur and Tommy came out with George and Sapnap. Tommy glared at Dream as he walked, but when he got closer to us he turned his attention on me. He expression completely changed as he grinned.
"Y/n! We came to see ya off! I know you'll do just fine!" He stopped in front of me, Wilbur behind him. He handed me a light weight messenger bag. Inside were a bunch of different potions and a letter. "We managed to grab a few Potions for the trip." Tommy had that mischievous look in his eye that told me he stole them. Wilbur addressed the other item. "The letter is for when your feeling homesick. It was written by me, Tommy, and the rest of the staff."
Wilbur held a sad but proud look, Tommy grinned a bit wider. I would miss the family I made here. Willbur and Tommy was like brothers to me, and I have no idea where I'd be without them. I felt like I was leaving them forever, even though it was for about a few months. They finished their goodbyes and I looked over to Dream. He was just about finished as well. I looked back one more time before we officially made our departure.
Hey guys got another one for ya! I swear we'll get to Cinereal and to the Twins soon I just need to set thing up first. The next chapter will have some of world building though so I hope you enjoy and have a great day/Night!
