Niall's POV

This is it. Today is the day. The day I finally confess to Y/N. What I feel for her is no ordinary feeling. When I'm with her, all I see are rainbows and hearts, excluding her pretty face of course. The first time I saw her, I knew she was something special. Only, I didn't realize how she'd make me see her.

There she was, at the starting line, crouching down in the position runners find themselves at the beginning of a race. Her face had a look full of determination, not gonna lie she was hot. I was very intrigued by her. I had never even spoken to her before then, yet she had a way of pulling me towards her. I cheered her on loudly, not even caring if I was sent weird or judgemental stares. She ended up finishing second place, not looking very happy. She had a fierce scowl on her face as she looked at the podium, staring at it, longing to stand on the highest stand.

I took my chonces and walked up to her. I had a calm look on, but inside, my heart was beating harder than I wanted it to.

Flashback

"Hey" I said, in nothing more than a whisper, to not scare her. She flinched a tiny bit and turned around, eyeing me. Damn, I can't pull myself together at this rate.

"Um..hi? Sorry do I know you?" she asks with a puzzled look. "Uh no not really. I just saw you standing here so uh... yeah." Shit, this is so awkward. I didn't even think this through.

She nods and continues to stare at the podium. "Um, you did great today... you run really fast." I said, desperately trying to spark conversation. "Oh, thanks. But I wasn't good at all. I finished second place." she said sadly. I guess this is really affecting her.

"No, it's not a bad thing. I guess this is your first competition? I come to watch every time there's a competition I've never seen you." I said putting pieces together. She just lets out a small 'yeah'.

"Well, you can't expect to do great every time now, can you? There'll be plenty more opportunities to show how talented you are. Don't let this bring you down, it's just your first match." I reassured her with a wide grin on my face, her catching the same expression.

She sticks her hand out for me to shake, which I do. "I'm Y/N. And you are?" I bite my tongue to stop myself from telling her that I knew, that'd just make it more awkward. "I'm Niall. Niall Horan." I introduced myself hoping she wouldn't end our exchange.

"Wait... Aren't you the guy who's always not playing during the football game?" My face falters for a second but I cover it up with a laugh. "Oh god, I'm sorry I didn't mean to sound rude. But you get what I mean right?" She asked with a nervous laugh. Gah! She was being too cute. Of course she's an angel!

"It's alright, I'm kinda surprised, how did you recognize me? As you said, I never play." She just smiles and looks down. "I usually notice everything. Not just what's supposed to be the main attraction."

Wow, such a beauty. "Niall? Is everything okay?" she asked with a slight frown. "Oh yeah, why wouldn't it be. Everything's perfect."

Flashback ends

And that's how we became friends. Not that I didn't have this itch to make it something more. But with the persistent pushes from my friends, I planned a wonderful day out, leading to me asking her out.

I'll admit I'm extremely nervous because she has been acting strange around me for the past week and it's kinda worrying me. Is she starting to feel uncomfortable with me? Does she not want to be friends anymore? Did one of the boys say something to drive her away?

No... they wouldn't do that to me. Well, either way, I'm doing this because I can't hold it in any longer. At first, I thought it was infatuation but I started to realize it was way more. Some might even call it love but I'm not going to jump to conclusions just yet.
