William is still asleep when I wake up to find Amber in my room. Her eyes are closed so I suppose she's sleepwalking. I shake her arm and she startles, screaming.
"It's just me. Jul, remember? You were sleepwalking again." Amber sits down on the bed and starts crying. My little sister, I think with a sigh.
"Nightmares. About *sob* losing *sob* Shaza." Amber cried. "People *sob* took him and *sob* killed him."
I slide my hand down her back and she calms down. I've always had that kind of power, calming people down with my body.
I walk into where William, the boy that Amber brought in. He's talking in his sleep, but I can only understand a few of them.
"Charms vulgar Wyyam Garzon witchcraft marshal Desert of Karma flip Amber wasted magica Wallen Gourd."
I shake him awake, and he groans. "What, Mom? Is it breakfast time?"
I laugh. "No, it's Jul."
He sits up. "So it wasn't a dream."
"No. What were you dreaming about?"
"I can't remember." He holds his head in his hands. "I think I saw a boy who looked like me, and some weird charms on this bronze chain." He picks up the chain I put on the table next to him.
"Those charms are called The Charms of Garzon. There are seven of them, one for each region of Lixzan, the island we live on. Nizari is one of them, so is The Outer Lands and the Desert you mentioned, I think."
"I mentioned a desert? When?"
I sit down on the floor. "You mentioned The Desert of Karma in your sleep. Anyway, what was the order of the charms you saw?"
"A black and white swirled circle with dots on it, a square equally divided into two different blues, a white star in a light blue ring, but I don't remember the rest."
I nod. "Okay. The first charm you mentioned is The Equality Charm. It is supposedly found here, in Nizari. All the charms have special powers, and The Equality Charm supposedly is able to help you if something bad happens, and it will make something bad happen if you found something good. A Blessing and a Curse."
"So I'm supposed to go looking for this charm?" William asks, getting of the bed.
"Maybe." I get up as well.
Amber enters the room. "What's this I hear about looking for the Charms of Garzon?"
