I got outside of the school, and it turned out to be school time as I thought, we were getting a lot of weird looks.
I smiled awkwardly, feeling very embarrassed, Eleven following behind me, as awkward as I, but also breathing heavily.
I walked out. Looking around the building, there was snow everywhere and ice was dropping from cars or nearby stop signs. Everybody was wearing long, warm, fur coats to keep warm.
"Hey!" An adult had caught us as we were about to leave the school grounds. They had short and thin hair with glasses. And was wearing very unique patterned pants.
Eleven looked at me scared, "are you supposed to be here?" They asked.
"Mouth breather," Eleven mumbled loud enough for the three of them to hear. "Excuse me?-'' ''We were just wandering off from our house for a walk, I am sorry." I cut them off. They looked at me with a skeptical look, and then walked off.
"That was close," I tugged on Els' shoulder, who winced suddenly. I walked off to the house we were before, Mike's house.
It looked like it was empty, but the television was playing distantly inside. Eleven shaked her head, "bad," "no, its fine, El." I assured her, but she still didn't move.
"Fine, you go, and wait for me at the side, make sure no one sees you though. I am going to ring the doorbell." I told her, and saw from the window, someone getting up, realizing that I was there.
"Go!" I whispered to Eleven, who ran off to the side of the house. "Yes?" said a man opening the door.
He had glasses and black hair that was sat back to stay put. His shirt was a t-shirt, and was wearing a bit more things than necessary. He had skinny jeans on, and his hands in his pockets.
"I am looking for someone, named... Mike?" I asked, I could tell he could scent a feeling of fright in my voice.
"Uh.. what do you want with my son?" He asked, scared. "Well-" "Oh!" The man said, cutting me off. "Are you from Hawkins Lab? They were looking for him. Something about a girl."
My eyes widened in fright. Realizing this is what Eleven was talking about when she had told her that she had been on the run.
"No, Mike's just a.. friend." I corrected him. He rearranged his glasses which were turning lopsided.
"Well, okay, he was taking the day off of school today. Let me just call him." The man told me, I nodded at El from where I was. "MIKE! SOMEONES HERE!"
I waited then. Three minutes later I saw a young boy, about Els age. He had a cut kind of like a bowl cut, but no bowl fringe.
He had puffy eyes and looked like he was crying. I understood why. He thought that El was dead, when she wasn't. She actually was on the left side of the building he stood in.
"What?" He asked angrily. I waved at him, he continued to look confused. "Can I see you for a second?" I asked him, he hesitantly nodded.
I smiled. Mike walked out on me, and was about to look where Eleven was, but instead I saw Eleven sigh, and then move to the back.
He widened his eyes, did he see her? "Umm okay," I walked with him to the very end of the Cul- De-sac. He was super confused. "First of all, you should never trust strangers Mike, second, I know who you are." He widened his eyes even more wide.
Trembling from head to toe, I went to clutch his shoulder which was twitching, but he pushed it off.
"What do you want?" Mike asked, I smiled more wide, was I being creepy? I let go. "I came from the Upside Down to tell you that.. I can help you." But all he must have heard was Upside Down and me telling him that I could help, cause he was looking scared.
