Stella was standing on the shore hoping that squad was okay. She thought to herself "This can't be happening. You're just overthinking this. This isn't real." Even though deep down she knew something was wrong.

The boat was just about to fill up with water. Squad knew it would be difficult to find a way out, but they couldn't give up, not yet. They all had someone to go home to. Severide had Stella, Cruz had Chloe and his unborn son, Capp had his new girlfriend Mazie, and Tony had his wife. They all had someone they to stay alive for. The boat had just filled up with water Severide is searching around the boat and finds a small exit they could use. He swims back to Squad and the victim and motion them to the exit. He is starting to feel light headed from the lack of oxygen, but he wasn't going to get out of the boat until everyone was out. The rest of squad and the victim just got out of the exit and Severide is starting to swim towards the exit when everything goes black, and he starts to sink to the bottom.

Truck and Ambo are still waiting on the shore waiting to see a sign that Squad was still alive. The tears Stella had tried so hard to hold in are now streaming down her face. In her head she was thinking about the worst case scenario. She tried to block it out and have some hope, but it was quickly fading. Then they see Tony come above the surface with the victim quickly followed by Capp and Cruz. Relief floods their faces as they see them climb onto the boat, but the relief quickly fades when they don't see Severide come to the surface.

Stella: Where's Kelly? Why isn't he with Squad? The relief she had just felt moments before was now gone and more tears had come to the surface.

Casey: Come on Severide.

The victim, Tony, Cruz, and Capp all climb onto the boat when they start to look around them and quickly realize Severide never made it to the surface.

Cruz: Damn it Severide must've blacked out before he had a chance to make it to the surface. Capp get ready to go back in to get him, Tony stay with the victim.

Capp & Tony: Copy.

Cruz and Capp had just gone back underwater to get Severide to the surface. Once they had gotten back into the boat they were searching for Severide, but failed to find him. They were starting to run out of the breath they had taken. To avoid blacking out they come back to the surface, but once they took a breath or two they went back in. By the time they had went back in Severide had been passed out for about 7 minutes. Cruz and Capp had come up for a second time, and they were getting frustrated and worried they couldn't find him.

Stella watching in complete horror as she watched Cruz and Capp go back underwater for a third time to try and locate Severide. Brett walked over to Stella and started to rub her back as she noticed she was getting overwhelmed.

Brett: He's a fighter, he's not giving up yet. Stella gives her a small smile.

Cruz and Capp are now under for the fourth time to locate Severide. They are still searching for Severide and getting more and more frustrated that they can't find him. Just when they were about to go back to the surface Cruz spots Severide's lifeless body on the bottom of the boat tucked under a cabinet. He swims to the bottom and starts to bring his body to the surface.

Cruz: I got him! Get him on the boat he needs CPR right away!

Stella's knees buckle as she sees Severide's lifeless body brought onto the boat and seeing someone from the CFD rescue boat immediately starting CPR. She puts her head in her hands as she feels Brett rub her shoulder. Brett radioes to the CFD rescue boat.

Brett: Anything from Severide?

Capp: Negative.

Brett: How long was he under?

Capp: About 12 minutes.

Brett: Is he showing any response.

Capp: Negative. He responds sadly.

CFD Person: He is not showing any response to the CPR. He has no pulse and he isn't breathing. His brain most likely received damage from the lack of oxygen for that long of a time. I'm stopping compressions.

Stella: No! Don't stop compressions please. I need him.

Brett: Wait! Capp how cold was the water today?

Capp: It was very cold.

Brett: Feel Severide's forehead, is he cold to the touch?

Capp: Yes he's freezing, where are you going with this?

Brett: If his temperature dropped low enough the low temperature would keep his brain from having damage. Don't you dare stop those compressions! Keep them going until you get back to shore while giving him small breaths. He's not dead until he is warm and dead!

The CFD rescue boat make their way to shore and quickly transfers him on the stretcher. Brett checks for a pulse and his temperature. Stella watches in horror a few feet behind everyone as she feels like her legs are paralyzed.

Brett: No pulse, but his temperature is only 83º degrees. His brain might have a chance. Violet get an intubation kit and intubate him while I continue compressions.

Violet: Copy. Violet intubates Severide and bags him. Intubation is done.

Brett: Stella can you cut his shirt so we can get the leads on him to check his heart rate. Stella doesn't answer, she's in complete shock that any of this is happening. Stella!

Stella: Sorry! She walks over and Violet hands her a pair of scissors. She cuts his shirt and then rips it the rest of the way down. Come on Kelly. She says under her breath.

Violet places the 2 leads on Severide's chest. Brett stops compressions and looks at the monitor and sees that he's still flatlining. She continues compressions while Violet is still helping him breathe with the intubation.

Brett: Load him up in Ambo. Get him covered in blankets we need to try and bring his temperature up. Violet you drive.

Violet: Copy.

Stella: I'm riding with you!

Brett: Hop in quickly. I hate to have to ask you to do this, but I need you too take over his intubation.

Stella: Whatever you need. Just- I need him to be okay.

Stella holds his hand while she has her other hand on the pump of the intubation. She lets a few tears fall.

Stella: Come on Kelly I know you are stronger than this. It's not your time yet! You can't go, not like this.

After what feels like an eternity to Stella they finally arrive at med.
