I always thought this life didn't belong to me.

Like when I felt out of place, when time seemed wrong, and when my body didn't feel like my own.

From birth, I had heart and respiratory problems, but fortunately, I managed to survive. Growing up, I could never fully embrace life.

When I was 15, I desperately wanted to go to a party I was invited to for the first time. My parents didn't agree, and I still don't know why.

That night, I secretly organized with friends to go anyway. Some were brought by their boyfriends, and others by their brothers.

I placed extra pillows and blankets under the covers to make it seem like I was still sleeping. Then, I opened the window. Luckily, being short, I only needed to take a small jump to land on the road.

After a few minutes, I saw my friend Lorena arrive with her brother.

I was beyond excited. Finally, I would experience the thrill that everyone else seemed to have. My life had always been quieter, focused on studying and my family.

But that night, I would enjoy some fun and excitement. Maybe I would even meet someone special.

But back to the present, the three of us made it to the party, and it was chaotic. People were dancing, causing trouble, screaming, and breaking things.

They all seemed carefree, happy, and friendly. But the reality was that many people were shady, mean, and despicable.

There were little groups of boys and girls who lacked respect and proper manners.

I tried to avoid them as much as possible by staying with my friends, but something went wrong.

I remember that after a drink or two, I couldn't stand anymore. My head was spinning, and I found myself in a room, lying on a huge bench.

The room was grand, and as I looked around, I saw a boy stumbling towards the bed. His gaze was vacant, revealing his drunken state. He didn't seem to have any control over his actions.

Knowing what his intentions were, I tried to fight back. I called for help, but he covered my mouth with one hand and pinned my hands down with the other.

All I remember was managing to kick him in the groin, causing him to crumple to the ground. At that moment, I gathered my courage and ran away.

As I descended the stairs, I noticed there were still many people and loud music. Just before reaching the door, I heard laughter and screams. I couldn't believe it.

I saw three guys surrounding my friend, Lorena. She was struggling and screaming, while one of them threatened to torture and rape her.

I was frozen, not knowing how to help. It was the only thing that came to my mind.

I called the police and my parents too. If I had never gone to that stupid party, none of this would have happened.

The police arrived and stopped everything. My parents came and took me away.

The events that followed are a blur in my memory. One moment I was amidst the chaos, and the next I was in a car, looking out while my father screamed and my mother cried.

In a split second, everything stopped. The impact was fierce and swift.

I woke up abruptly in an overturned car. I was losing blood, and I was still trapped in my seat. But something was wrong.

Everything I saw was pitch black.

Panic overwhelmed me. I desperately called out to my parents, but they didn't answer.

I remained like that for hours, perhaps, but still no response. Eventually, I became silent and weak. I cried and screamed until the darkness consumed me.

What followed was awakening in a hospital bed, without my parents, and sight.
