Iris Campbell had a special gift, one she tried to keep hidden after twelve years. She remembered the day it started — in her hospital bed. Hours after the explosion that ruined her life, her best friend, Gwen, visited her at the hospital. Only to notice that her eyes were turning a violent green and that when she touched her, she was greeted with a small electric shock.
Gwen shook it off, never questioning it and chalking it up to her wild imagination. But Iris quickly realised that she had newfound powers. Over the years, she had trained herself to keep it under control. And it worked. To an outsider, Iris was just a party girl, somebody who would turn into a nobody if she didn't get her act together.
She tried to, of course. But dumb parties and even dumber boys were her way of coping. No one would ever suspect the rebellious teen trainwreck to be the one 'blessed' with powers. And the one who managed to let it go undetected for over ten years.
But even with all of that, Iris could never escape her own powers. In a world with super humans and Gods, she hoped that there was a chance that someone like her could fit in.
So unlike a certain web slinging Spider-man, she hid her powers from everyone. And with every bad costume and angry yell from the street, she convinced herself further that it just wasn't worth it.
