The sunken ship. It had seemed like the perfect adventure. A fun place to explore and look for treasure. But neither Lily nor Marie could have guessed that their fun adventure would take such a dangerous turn.

The two mermaids struggled to break free of their captor's hold. But the grip the two mersharks had on them was too strong.

"We really lucked out, bro." the mershark holding Marie said. "I haven't laid eyes on something this tasty in awhile."

"Indeed." the one holding Lily spoke. He leaned in towards her and licked her cheek. "And they're both nicely filled out too. Just the right amount of meat on them."

A chill went down Lily's spine as she felt the mershark's tongue against her cheek. She didn't want this. She was too young to die. And the last thing she wanted was to get eaten on her very first day of being a mermaid.

"Let us go!"

"Not happening." he said. "Now... which part of you shall I take a bite out of first?"

Marie struggled as hard as she could, but to no avail. Her mother had warned her about mersharks. Carnivorous creatures that were even more dangerous than regular sharks due to being far more intelligent. And to make matters worse, it wasn't just her in danger. Lily was also on their menu. She looked around for something, anything, that could help them. Suddenly, her eyes fixed themselves on a decomposed skeleton on the floor before her.

Would it work? There was no way to know for sure, but if she did nothing they were shark food anyway. Marie was going to have to bet everything on this.

The mershark holding Lily showed his fangs as he prepared to bite into her. "Be sure to scream to your heart's desire. It really whets our appetite."

No matter how hard Lily struggled, she couldn't break free of his hold. Was this it? Was she really going to die like this?

"Lily! Duck!"

The shout from Marie came out of nowhere. She watched as her friend reeled back her violet tailfin before swinging it forward as hard as she could, hitting the skull near her and sending it rocketing towards Lily's head.

Lily followed Marie's warning and ducked her head as much as she could. The skull flew past her and slammed right into the face of the mershark holding her. The impact made him lose his grip on Lily, freeing her from him.

"Bro!" the mershark holding Marie exclaimed. He growled at Marie. "You little..."

Marie didn't give him time to finish. His surprise from seeing his fellow mershark get hit in the head had caused his grip to weaken slightly. Marie thrusted her body back, slamming him into the pillar near them. His grip loosened and Marie managed to escape.

"Quick thinking, Marie." Lily told her friend with a grin.

"Thank me later! Swim for it!" Marie shouted. Lily didn't need to be told twice as they swam out of the room as fast as they could.

The two mersharks shook the dizziness out of their head as they glared at the fleeing mermaids. "You're not getting away that easily!"

Lily swam right behind Marie as they backtracked their way to the room where they had entered. She glanced behind her and saw the two mersharks weren't far behind them. If they got caught, they were goners for sure. They had to escape. Her pulse was racing faster than ever before, having never been in such a life-threatening situation before.

"This way!" Marie called out, swimming into the room. Once Lily followed her inside, she slammed the door shut before swimming to the nearby dresser. "Quick! Help me barricade the door!"
