Lily walked along the road as she made her way to school. She had never really been one to be overly happy, but she noticed she had gotten a skip to her step ever since meeting Marie and being able to transform into a mermaid.

It had been just a little over two weeks ago. The day Marie had transferred to her high school. At first everything seemed normal about her. But Lily was in for a rude awakening when she discovered Marie was actually a mermaid. On top of that, she had been able to turn Lily into a mermaid as well. Ever since, Lily had found a new friend in Marie, perhaps even her best friend. Every couple of days, the two of them would go to the secluded cove after school, turn into mermaids, and explore the ocean nearby. Thankfully, they had been able to avoid any close encounters with danger unlike their first underwater adventure where they had nearly gotten themselves eaten by mersharks.

Being a mermaid was a feeling unlike any other that Lily had experienced. She even found herself taking baths occasionally over a shower so she could lay in the tub with her tailfin.

Finally, Lily arrived at the front gate to her high school. She found Marie standing around and waved over to her. "Hey. Morning."

"Morning Lily." Marie greeted with a smile. "Finally glad Friday's here, huh?"

"Yeah. The weekend is on the horizon." Lily said. "Speaking of which, you want to go swimming after school today?"

Marie nodded her head. "Sure. I've got no plans."

"Great. Then lets-"

"Make way extras! Coming through!"

The loud voice caught both Lily and Marie's attention as they looked and saw other students making away. Another girl their age came walking through. She had golden blonde hair and a fancy outfit. Everything about her screamed "spoiled princess" though nobody dared to say it aloud.

"Ugh, great. Her." Lily groaned in an annoyed tone.

The girl in question was Veronica, a girl one class year higher than Lily and Marie. Her father apparently worked at some kind of business firm in the city, so her family was a bit wealthier than most in town. And boy did she love showing it off. Veronica was "Miss Popular" of Malenia High School. She acted like a queen and nobody stood to oppose her. If they did, all it took was one word from her and rumors about you would spread through the school like wildfire.

Marie herself had also heard the girl's name a couple of times since starting school here two weeks ago. It was clear to her that Veronica was trouble so she did all she could to stay away from her whenever possible.

As Veronica walked, she handed out what appeared to be flyers to certain people. Marie narrowed her eyes. "What's that about?"

"Probably another party she's throwing if I had to guess." Lily said. "Her family's got a boat so she hosts parties on it every once in a while. If you're popular you get invited. If you're not popular... let's just say you should hope you don't get invited."

"She's that much of a piece of work, huh?"

"You don't know the half of it." Lily sighed. "Forget about her. Let's think about where to go in the ocean after school."

Marie nodded her head. "Sounds good."

With that, the two girls walked inside as they chatted. The school day went on as normal. Classes occurred one after another. Everyone listened and took notes. Lunch arrived, where Lily and Marie sat together and ate. Then more classes.

When school finally let out, Lily and Marie booked it to the beach. After going into the cove and making sure nobody saw them, the two put their bags down and undressed. They then went into the water, where their human legs transformed into beautiful tailfins. From there, they swam through the small tunnel and out into the open sea.
