As soon as I heard the slow beat of the familiar song I grabbed the long sleek silver pole with my right hand, stepping closer to it with pointed toes.
"Elvis is my daddy, Marilyn's my mother, Jesus is my bestest friend.."
I swung my leg around the cold pole pushing my body to it, making sure my head tilted back with my hair cascading down my back. I had to perfect this, it was my only chance to get into the small but beautiful club. I've been waiting since I was 15 to be old enough to try out for a spot with the exotic dancers. I am now 20 and living in Atlanta Georgia, it's a beautiful city and there's so many things to do. They have cute little shops and raging night clubs, different places but nice for two types of people.
"We get down every Friday night, dancin' and grindin' in the pale moonlight..."
The music snapped me back into reality, I dipped to the floor and ran a hand through my hair, ruffling it, and biting my lip. I stood back up making sure to stick my butt out far and run a hand up my leg.
"I sing the body electric... I sing the body electric baby.."
The chorus repeats
I practice my whole routine over and over, it really is a great dance but working out is busting my ass. I'm exhausted all the time, it's creating even more noticeable bags under my eyes.
Thank God I had enough money to install a pole in my bedroom and buy a few cheap mirrors to hang around my wall, making my mistakes easier to spot.
I look over to the clock to see its 11:00 pm so I head to bed, my audition is tomorrow and I don't think I'm going to get any sleep tonight. I'm so nervous my whole life depends on this one day, hopefully I won't screw if up...
