{AU} Get Your Act Together

((A/N: Wanted to try writing something to calm myself. This also contains my headcanons for Keiji that aren't actually canon in Deadication, just a heads up!))

Keiji Iketsugi silently stared at the circus equipment before him. 

He could hardly believe that it had been 6 years since he left. Every acrobat skill he learned, every friend he made, every performance he was in...it felt like it was yesterday when he put on his uniform for the first time. 

Being a part of the circus truly felt amazing, like it was his second home. 

The feeling of being 20ft high in the air while his friends were with him felt wonderful. 

The times when he would crack jokes with his friends and help them pull pranks on others were hilarious. 

The moment he introduced Rin to his friends and they all taught her how to draw was heartwarming. 

The times where Keiji would travel across the world, town to town, city to city, continent to continent,...it was exhilarating.

If he had a chance to start over and do it all over again, he would take that chance.

A chance to see his friends again.

A chance to travel the world again.

A chance to perform again.

A chance to be free...

....to prevent it from happening.

A chance to stop himself from messing up.

A chance to actually do something right for once.

A chance to better himself, for his parents.

For his sister.

For his friends.

For his classmates at Hokutan.

For the medical industry.

How stupid can you be?

Keiji violently flinched at the voices as he held his left arm in pain. He stood like that for a few seconds until he was somewhat calm. His vision was noticeably blurry as he could hardly see anything. The blurriness went away and Keiji found himself still standing in the gym in front of the circus equipment. 

Why couldn't he try again? Why did he do this to himself? Why didn't he listen to his parents?

Keiji felt something wet on his face. They were tears. He wiped them away with his thumb and turned towards the gym's exit.
