The Battle of Ao

The Dual Duel

Pebble walked quickly behind Alec. He seemed to be troubled. Almost like he was annoyed by Pebble's very presence.

His annoyance of course was no match for Pebble's fear as a Alec's giant wolf Vena followed them and he knew that at any moment it could tear him to bits.

"Hey man if your really that annoyed about teaching me dual wield you don't have to" Said Pebble, trying to ignore the dog.

"Huh? No it's fine just something on my mind that's all" Said Alec. "and no I don't want to talk about it"

Pebble closed his mouth without saying anything.

"Here" said Alec, tossing him to sticks. "I'm guessing you pretty good at fighting right?"

Pebble gave a swift nod

"Well to dual wield you have to make sure not to touch your blades together when swinging" Said Alec. "Watch"

Alec swing his two sticks making sure not to touch them.

"Now you try" He said.

Pebble tried swinging and after trying again and again was able to swing them at a tree without touch them.

This went on for about twenty minutes with Alec giving advice and Pebble soon after using that advice. Eventually they moved up to real weapons and they even dueled with Alec of course going easy and using only his diamond dagger.

"Ha I'm the best! I could beat you even if you had your weapons!"  Said Pebble after knocking Alec down.

"Would you like to test that theory?" Said Alec, getting tired of Pebble.

"It's no theory. I was the best in Villagetown and I'm the best everywhere." Said Pebble

"Ok that's a yes" Said Alec, getting up and taking out his other diamond dagger. "No more going easy"

Alec jumped up into the trees and jumped down onto Pebble with his daggers pointed downwards. Pebble who had just been astonished by Alecs ability was almost crit if not for his reflexes allowing him to dodge just before the hit.

Pebble was now in a battle stance slowly circling an round as Alec had disappeared into the trees and a few times had jumped down or out and hit Pebble.

'He's in his element' he thought 'not just the woods but the night to'

Pebble thought about what to do next. Surely if this kept going on he would lose. So after some thought Pebble got an idea.

Pebble took a touch out of his inventory as well as all the sources of light he could find. He then started running around placing them.

Although not before Alec caught wind of his ploy and started chasing him. Alec was now in full light and was clearly visible.

With Alecs slight advantage gone he decided it was now up to hand to hand combat.

Alec continually jumped up and knocked Pebble down then stabbing his back. He got a few hits in but Pebble dodged furiously.

Pebble new that he was outmatched in smarts but maybe not strength. Pebble took the time to get Alec's timing right then right before he knocked Pebble down he ducked and used his axes to hold Alec down.

Alec smiled

"Not bad" he said, kicking the axes and pushing Pebble into the ground with a dagger to his throat. "but still not better"

Alec put his daggers away and helped Pebble up.

"Now let's get back to camp" Said Alec.

Pebble looked down. "This is exactly what got me exiled. I got all.. I dunno"

"Hey kid it's ok it's good to believe in yourself. But maybe let's believe a little less next time" Said Alec.

Pebble smiled "Thanks"

Pebble and Alec then spent sometime cleaning up the lights then they hopped on Vena-with Pebble still quite scared-and the went home
