CHAPTER TWO - SAMANTHA THOMAS
I pulled my sparkling blue corvette into a decent parking spot. I slammed the car door, my backpack slung over my shoulder. Let's see who knows it's my birthday. Immediatly, my best friend, Izzy, came running up to me. She was a tomboy like me but her mom wasn't a designer, so she was more tomboyish in style. But today, she wasn't that tomboyish. Her usual baggy jeans were replaced with skinny jeans, she had a frilly shirt, the frills only going down the middle and she was wearing flats.
"What happened?" I looked at her in muse.
"Your sis was nice enough to lend me clothes after Josh spilt my coffee!" She exclaimed.
"All over your pants? What a clumsy boyfriend." I laughed. She nodded and chuckled along.
"So... happy birthday!!" She screamed, causing a couple heads to whip to us.
"Shh! And thanks. It's just a normal Monday though..." I started walking towards my first class.
"Yes, but, it's still your birthday!' She exclaimed, running up to me. I nodded slightly and shrugged.
We entered the classroom and a guy I've never seen before was sitting in my seat. "Heh, yeah, this is my seat you're sitting in so..." I shooed him away.
"Sorry, is there an empty seat around? Maybe around you?" He asked. I rolled my eyes playfully and laughed.
"Flirting with a tomboy - you MUST be new." I laughed. He smiled sweetly.
"I'm Dylan." He stood up and held out his hand for a decent shake. I had to admit, he was kinda... cute: light blonde hair, matching his sparkly blue eyes.
"I'm Claire." I shook his hand.
"Wow, a beautiful name, claire... But I'm serious - is there a spot near you?" He questioned winking at me. I rolled my eyes once again.
"Sorry, Dylan, but you're in the front. So scoot your toosh, class I starting!" I exclaimed. He laughed and obeyed, scooting towards the front.
After class, I grabbed Izzy by the wrist and ran out of class. "Jesus!! What's the matter??" She exclaimed rubbing her wrist where I pretty much squeezed the death out of.
"It's the new kid." I stated. She gasped.
"THE NEW KID??" She yelped. I covered her mouth.
"Shut up!! And yes the new kid..." I whispered.
"What's his name? What did he do? What will your couple name be??" She questioned.
"Ok, calm, izzy, calm. His name is Dylan. But I'm not in the mood for a relationship." I rummaged through my bag. She rolled her eyes.
"Claire. No matter how not tomboyish we are right now - this is serious. Like when we found out josh liked me. Just keep calm. Simple as 1 2 3!" She smiled. Now it was my turn to roll my eyes.
"I don't think I want a relationship, Iz." I pulled out a baby carrot, handing it to Izzy. She objected, surprising me completely. "Objecting a carrot, eh? Why are you paranoid about this?" I asked taking a bite of one myself.
"You know why." She mumbled.
"No I don't." I smirked. She glared at me. "I don't mind if you remind me though..." I winked. I was only making this conversation playful because I knew she'd get upset.
"Because I freakin ruined your chance with todd!! Who knew you liked him!!?" She cried. I immediately held our a carrot. She took it and gobbled the thing down.
"Angry today aren't we? And on my birthday?"I made a 'tsk, tsk, tsk,' noise. She gave me a look.
"But this time it's serious. I'll try my best to get you guys together." She held up her right hand.
"No! Iz, don't! I'm not having or getting a relationship. Especially with him. I'm out of his league. But I hate all this girly talk anyways!! Can we talk about something else?" I pleaded. She smirked at me.
"Yeah. How about how all those girls are practically drooling over your man!" She laughed and pointed over to the locker direction. I whipped my head and saw she was telling the truth. Four girls were either stnading around him or putting their arm around him or kissing him on the cheek. I rolled my eyes.
"First, this is exactly why i don't want to date him. Second, MY man?" I scoffed. She laughed and we stopped at my second period's door. "See ya." I smiled and waved at her. She waved slightly and ran down the hall, her backpack clunking behind her. I chuckled and shook my head. "Crazy," I murmered under my breath. I slumped down into my seat. I still have another three minutes until class started. Suddenly, Dylan walked in, one girl still lingering behind him, literally leaning on him. He chuckled nervously. She faced him and took his hand. I felt a ping of guilt jolt through me, but I ignored it and stared at them, me failing to control my hatred for that girl. "So, tonight at my place? I can cook us dinner." She failed comepletely at whispering. Dylan glanced around the room nervously and his eyes landed on me. I awkwardly flipped my notebook open and began to fake read. Wow, i'm an idiot.
I tried to resist the urge of looking until I heard, "I guess...?" Dylan mumbled. My head flew up and I was shocked. The girl who had asked him was Samantha Thomas - the most popular girl in school, who appearantly just dumped her boyfriend...
"Yay!" She gasped, kissing him on the cheek and running to her seat.
Now, a few people were starting to enter the classroom, followed by the teacher. UGH!! KILL ME NOW!

Thanks for reading! I really, really appriciate it. And also, I do book shoutouts if you'd like. So just comment to me saying you want one and I'll type them at the end of the chapters like usually the end of the author's note. I also read a few of them, but I can't read them all at once, so don't offended. I do, however am shouting out to ObeyPayne. She didn't ask me to do this but I think she's an amazing writer! Check her out! Thanks!
