Took me some time and venting out to 4 different people, to stabilize. Following is just my view. You can agree or disagree.
Logically, I understand the reasons. But in my opinion, correct timing for such a post was 2 months ago when the show just ended. Emotionally, I am hurt. But fault is only mine. I stayed away from shipping real pairs all these years, but I fell hard for this pair. I tried to pull back many times but failed. After this rude awakening, now I can let it go. Not only 90s kids, even 80s kids like me cut-off people who hurt them. And I 've zero tolerance to wrong accusations. In conclusion, I 've decided that my mental health and self-respect is more important than being fan of someone who gave a delayed and harsh reaction to a section of fans for someone else's crime. The only one I now care about is the young girl who faces most of the backlash everytime one of the guys in her life messes up.
About FFs on the pair... They are just stories. A rose by any name is still a rose. Fan fiction is just story. Doesn't matter if the FFs use real names or different names, provided there is a disclaimer that will protect the author from any blame of defamation.
When I started this FF, it was to explore an idea about a what-if situation. I am using lots of real life content but they are not an official couple. So respecting their privacy and personal life, I didn't use real names for any of the characters. The story will continue but slowly coz I lost inspiration.
But I am bitter. And my way of overcoming the grief, is starting a new FF with real names. Only the names used are real, characters and story plot are not related to real people or incidents in any way. The original draft was meant for another fandom, written years ago. But now I am writing it out, adapting to this fandom.

Summary :
