Gender Equality

I know, I know that this isn't a poem but this is something I wrote myself and I am really proud of it.

"Equal Opportunity, Equal Liberty, Equal in the eyes of everyone."Why can't a boy like princess and Fairy tales? Why can't a girl be independent, bold and strong? Why do we place ourselves within boundaries or label? We do we stereotype, discriminate. To quote Taylor Swift "I can wear pink and talk about the injustices of Society or Love glitter and talk about politics". Why do we define ourselves and others? Why can't we just be ourselves without being criticised? We can be a girl who likes to fight and be rough but that doesn't make us a tomboy but just a girl. We can be a boy who likes makeup and ballet and that doesn't make us a girly boy but just a boy. Why do we divide ourselves? We aren't all that different. Why do we look down on others just because they don't fit our definition of who they're supposed to be? Why should we hide and cower and be afraid of judgment? For we are who we are and nothing is going to change that. So let's take a stand. We are not just a girl or a boy, a man or a woman but we are also human and that's what matters.

What do you think? I wrote this for my theatre class. I feel that when I say gender equality people automatically think about women but it's not only them. Boys face gender discrimination too. So I decided to incorporate that in too. We need to change this way of thinking. Both girls and boys should be free to do pursue anything they feel like we shouldn't be defined by our gender. If you truly love something go follow it don't let anybody tell you otherwise break the wall and pave a new path and inspire others to do it too. For we are never going to grow if we stick to boundaries so break them down you may make mistakes on the way or feel disheartened but remember if you won't do it who will?

Anyways before I go on a whole rant! I would love to hear any feedback or constructive criticism about my speech. I am always open to suggestions!!
