Nick ducked, as if his instincts were prepared, and something gave a loud crack. He put his arm over his head to shield himself from whatever was going to come, but whatever did, collapsed to the ground beside him.
"What the actual fuck-"
Radcliffe ran up to Fred, who was, just as Nick predicted, pull out a gun. Nick rushed up to grab the handle of the gun, pushing it aside as the trigger was pulled. Radcliffe rammed himself into Fred and pinned him to the wall.
Nick disarmed the man and backed up, pointing the same gun at him. Fred only smirked.
"Never held a gun before, have you?" Radcliffe was backing up as well, which was a surprise since they were the one having the gun, and somehow, the gunless guy was more threatening.
"I see it, kid, you're hand's shaking." Fred was about two meters away from them and he stopped right next to Matt, prodding his foot to the side of his stomach. "Hm, interesting, what did you do?"
Radcliffe stumbled back as if he was accused of murder. "Don't talk to him," Nick snarled. His hand was indeed shaking, but he wasn't going to let his voice shake as well!
"Oh, you hear that? He's ordering you around, what's your name, boy?" Fred asked, ignoring Nick as he looked at Radcliffe like a bird was looking at a freshly cooked sandwich, perched on the table of a single woman.
Radcliffe didn't answer, and Nick had to point his gun threateningly again, "Get- Get down, I'm gonna call the police-"
"No, that's not what we're supposed to do, they won't believe us-" Radcliffe hissed. "It's not against the law to have a gun with him, he's in the military, remember?"
"Oh, so you've been listening," snarled Fred, interrupting them.
Daniel ignored him, but Nick's eyes were on Fred, "We'll have to take him with us, he might be able to help with some stuff-"
"He's not gonna help us with anything!" Nick snapped. "Didn't you hear? He's not afraid of us, he knows we're not going to shoot him," he added in an undertone. "Which is a little true," Radcliffe breathed, feverishly.
"So, made up your minds yet, boys? You put down the gun and walk away, no biggie done." Fred added, more menacingly, "And next time, come with a plan, yeah, boys? You don't wanna be outnumbered, it's really great that you have skills-"
Bang!
There was an explosion from behind and Nick and Radcliffe jerked around quickly, "Just a smoke bomb, goddamnit!" Nick swore under his breath, turning back to Fred.
"Well, just-a-smoke-bomb made him get away! How're we supposed to find him now?" Radcliffe concerned, staying in his spot. It was too foggy for neither of them to see anything.
"Oh my gosh, what happened?" Selena's voice said from somewhere to their right. "Nick- Daniel- I was so worried!" She ran into Nick because of all the fogginess, but backed away from him, to hug Radcliffe, instead, who was just a feet away from him.
There wasn't much of a commotion but people started to poke their heads out from the corner, and when the smoke cleared, Matt, Fred, and Alvin was nowhere to be seen.
