        Michael POV- 1925

“Hey Michael, where are you going?” Asked David, my best friend seeing me walk toward the classroom I was going to meet my girlfriend in. David was also surrounded by our other friends Marcus, James, and Lucas. The five of us had been friends since fourth grade when we went to the same school, but they don’t know about my girlfriend, no one does. We would be run out of town if anyone found out.

“I’m just going back to one of our classes, I left my favorite comb in there” I lied. I felt bad about lying to them. They were my friends and my father always taught me to never lie but this was a serious situation.

“Fine, we’ll go with you to get your comb” Lucas said. Darn. Why can’t I get any alone time with Sheryl?

“No, it is fine. I will go to the class myself. I’ll meet up with you when I get home” I said, walking away hoping to end the conversation. My black polished shoes clicking down the hallway. “Fine, we’ll see you later then” Marcus said, waving goodbye. Finally.

I walked down the hallway until I got to the class I wanted. Third Floor, Classroom 1. Ms. Roberts. I knocked on the door three times, our agreed signal that it was us, and the door opened. I looked in at my girlfriends face as I stepped through the doorway closing it behind me. I looked at her and she looked nervous. She knew if anyone found out she would be run out of town. She might even be arrested if it went that far. We needed to keep it a secret. No one in our town would accept a teacher student relationship. It may be 1925 but people still hadn’t grown to accept these things.

              Michael POV- 1926

I looked down at the body at my feet. He looked so familiar but also so much like a stranger. I looked at his black hair and his tan sun-kissed skin. I looked around to see if anyone was around, but I didn’t see anyone. When would someone find the body? Would people even notice it until school tomorrow morning? Ohh well, I can wait till then.

              Lucas POV- 1926

“Ohh Lucas sweetie! Time to come downstairs for school” I heard my mother yell from downstairs. I rushed to finish getting dressed in my new slacks and my penny loafers. I skipped down the hardwood steps and made my way into the kitchen. I grabbed a piece of buttered toast off of the counter as my mother kissed my cheek. “Bye mom, I have to rush to get to school. Bye” I said hurriedly rushing out the door.

As I neared the school it was louder than normal. Something must be going on. I walked around Mirror Lake until I got to my school. I saw police cars and their flashing lights. I made my way through the crowd of people to the front of the crowd to see what was happening. I saw a police man standing off to the side. “Sir, what happened here if you don’t mind me asking?”

“It looks like a murder-suicide. One of the kids here shot a teacher and then jumped off the front balcony of the school. A janitor found the students body this morning when he got to work and called us.” The policeman said, a sad look on his face. I wonder who the student was. I wonder if I knew him.

“If you don’t mind me asking, who are the dead people?” I asked, cocking an eyebrow.

The police officer paused for a second but soon decided to tell me. “Identification found on the student’s body said his name was Michael Smithson and the principal identified the teacher as Sheryl Roberts.”

“You have to be mistaken, Michael could never kill someone, especially Ms. Roberts. She was his favorite teacher” I said, trying to deny what I knew was true. I knew that the police officer wasn’t lying but I felt like I had to deny that it happened.

              Jared POV- Present Day

I was laying on the plain bed in my new room. I had my ear buds in and I was playing The High Roadby Three Days Grace, which is my favorite song at the moment. I looked down at my phone and saw that it was 10:32 p.m. I got up and decided to roam around the building for a while before coming back to go to bed. I turned a corner and got the shock of my life when I saw a boy about my age standing in the middle of the hallway. I nodded to him and he looked at me and smiled. “So you’re Jared? I here too” The boy said.

“Yeah, I’m Jared” I replied quietly.

“You just moved here? Where’d you move from?” He asked.

“Yeah, I just moved here from New York City” I replied, looking at the boy with interest. Who is he and why is he dressed like he went shopping at a flea market?

“I’ve always wanted to go to New York but I never had the chance” He replied “Oh well, I have to go now. I’ll see you around”. And with that he started to walk past me.

“Wait! I didn’t catch your name” I said.

              “Michael. Michael Smithson”.
