Thank you everyone for the wonderful questions, I had lots of fun answering them! I previously said I would post this with the next chapter update, but I want to update you all on the situation behind my delayed update. I was really excited for Glass Coffin at the beginning of the new year, but in March, I began to have health complications that negatively affected my daily energy levels and mood. As a result, I have been too tired and uncomfortable between life and medical care to write or plot much. Please note that the section below contains spoilers up to the previous chapter.
Q. @ArimaMary: Congrats on another update! I got a few questions for you! How's the story coming along from your end? Are you having trouble moving forward on each chapter or do you have an outline you are currently following?A. Glass Coffin is currently about 35% completed, estimated to be around 40 chapters. It was only at 25% at the beginning of 2020, so here's to more progress in 2021! [EDIT: This clearly didn't happen...] I'm currently following an outline, but my plans are not set in stone. Take the previous chapter, which was spontaneously added after the plot development in the chapter before that. After writing the previous chapter, I realized I need to heavily revise my outline because there are new things I want to explore at Mikage Sennou which I hadn't accounted for. I have learned a lot about plotting from Glass Coffin.
Q. @ArimaMary: Who is the character you enjoy the most when they appear on scene and why?
A. Aw man, that's hard. Don't ask me to choose between my darling! Just kidding. Disregarding Hakuchou, the character I enjoy writing most in Glass Coffin is Arata. Perhaps I'm biased, since I just finished the previous chapter. The latest chapter usually becomes my favorite chapter. Arata is one of the most fleshed out supporting characters in Glass Coffin and I might go as far as to consider him a breakthrough character in my writing career. Of course, I have a soft spot for Inoue as well.
Q. @ArimaMary: Have you dealt with negative reviews about GC? If you did, how did you handle them?
A. Negativity towards Glass Coffin has generally been directed at Hakuchou. She's not a universal heroine, being an inversion of certain conventions, so I've faced pushback from people who do not empathize with her narrative. Writing Hakuchou to be likeable is an ongoing struggle.
Q. @ArimaMary: Haven't seen any updates about moving or adding AO3 to your online presence. Any updates you are willing to share?
A. I did set up an AO3 account after I asked Glass Coffin readers about their experiences on AO3 a few chapters back. You can find me on AO3 as CC_Lyn, however I have yet to upload anything onto my account because I'm still not sure what sort of experience I want to cultivate on that platform. Thank you for your interest and continued support!
Q. Anon: I have some questions Lyn ^^ Is Kuin Kisaki and is the nurse a bad guy?
A. First of all, I have to apologize for deleting your comment on FFN. I didn't want your questions to spoil new readers. Hope you don't mind that. As for this question, yes, "Kuin" = "Queen" = Kisaki! Hiraga has been revealed to be a spy for Kisaki in a position to influence Hakuchou.
Q. Anon (cont.): Is Hakuchou going to end up with Arata?
A. No spoilers!
Q. Anon (cont.): OTPs and NOTPs? Do you still ship HayaYoshi?
A. Do I know you?! I feel like you must be someone I used to talk to on Wattpad, but you commented anonymously, so I can't figure out who you are. My top three Inazuma Eleven ships are HakuShuu, RanMasa, and GenSaku. I still adore HayaYoshi as well. I can't think of any NOTPs off the top of my head.
Q. @EM0EMI: Arata, do you like Hakuchou?
A. Arata could not be reached for comment.
Q. @EM0EMI: In a weird connection, I wanted to ask what Hakuchou's and perhaps, Kisaki (however, he is spoilers—) dub names would be in the Q/A.
A. Once upon a time, I assigned dub names for all my Inazuma Eleven OCs. Then I decided I didn't like them, so I scrapped them all. If I have to answer this question today, let's see...Hakuchou would be Odette Swarovski and Kisaki would be Quinn Heavens (hm, now isn't there another character with the last name Heavens?). I am glad you didn't ask about Inoue because I haven't found a better name for him yet and his old dub name is a joke.
Q. @EM0EMI: If Hakuchou was a song, what would it be?
It's hard to pick one encompassing song. Don't we all have character playlists? My answer has to be All the King's Horses by Karmina though. These are my favorite lines:
"Run with my hands on my eyes
Blind, but I'm still alive
Free to go back on my own
But is it still a home when you're all alone"
Q. Anon: Hi, I love your book Glass Coffin, but I'm confused about the timeline. Could you address that in the Q&A?
A. Since you asked via private message, I wasn't sure if you wanted your question to be kept anonymous. Let me know if you'd like me to edit your username in. Hakuchou is a first year when the story starts. The match the Suishous attend is the Football Frontier finals preceding the main tournament in canon, which is on the same day that Yuuka enters a comma (Gouenji is a first year too at this point in time, as with the rest of the canon second years). The Football Frontier takes place during the fall and Hakuchou is hospitalized for half a year. She returns to Yokato in spring, where she discovers everyone in her class has become second years. In Japan, each new school year starts in April. She joins Mikage around this time too as a second year. They will have some school days, summer break, and some more school days (totaling around five months) before the next Football Frontier preliminaries commence. Most of the Mikage players Hakuchou interacts with are second years like her except for Sugimori, who is a third year (which means he played as a second year for Caribbean in the previous Football Frontier). Arata is briefly made captain of Mikage this year until Sugimori joins the team and takes over the captaincy. Here are the matches of the previous Football Frontier, disregarding the preliminaries. Mikage and Teikoku are the Kanto representatives.
