Hey before I start this I wanna clarify I'm using "they" pronouns for this story so others can kinda relate more. I use she more often because it's easier for me to write but this story I wanted it to be a little different perspective. Whatever you use, you can put it in this story I guess lol

Also so this story makes a little more sense:

(Y/n) (L/n)  = Your Name/Last name

Italics = a memory

' apostrophe with italic words ' = a thought

A single • in the middle of the page = different perspective

-this will take place a little before luz arrives as well

Okay, happy reading!

A stone was thrown across the water, skipping happily among the rippled tide.

"Oh, what can I even do?" My voice whispered miserably, hiding myself in the woodland, away from the shame of my supposed superiors. Approaching a fallen tree near a creek, I carefully placed myself onto it like a bench as I looked into the running water, my reflection bouncing off into the moon.

"(Y/n) (L/n), that child. I'm getting concerned for them, headmaster. They haven't made a decision yet, and you know what happens when witches don't choose a coven." A small creature hushed, leaning in to the schools headmaster. "Y-yes, Kikimora. I'm afraid they haven't decided yet, we haven't been able to help them choose-" cutting him off, the small woman named Kikimora whispered angrily.

"The emperor is not patient, you know that...Principal Hieronymus Bump."

Her voice was threatening, full of malicious law. "I will not let you down, Kikimora. I promise you and the Emperor..." the meek principal covered in fear over this small demonic woman, under complete rule. She let out a sigh, turning around to face the exit. "Although young, they are already leaving this school soon. If you do not have the child join a coven by the next full moon,"

"Emperor Belos will have no choice, but to exterminate them immediately."

Although I knew it was wrong, I couldn't help myself to spy, until the panicked wave of termination soon plagued my mind. "N-no,
they can't-" stepping backwards as quietly as I could, forgetting the small books and school supplies strewn across the schools floor tiles. Until,  my heel clicked underneath a stack of books, causing me to fall over, a loud thud emitting thru the halls.

"What was that? Who is there!" My eyes met with the smallest figure, named Kikimora. A tiny red toned being with one visible eye, and pale blue and green streaked hair, dawned in the emperor guild robes.

"The child!-" before she could finish, I turned around immediately and began to run fast, ignoring her desperate attempts to lure me near. "Wait!" The principal cried out, both giving up on the chase. Quickly, I slid down the long staircases banister and took off towards a small door hidden under the tile of the stair ridden area. Using magic to lift the tile, I slipped into the small hole that lead me to the first level of the massive school.

"Staff, come-!" I hissed. Crashing through one of the many windows, the wooden paraphernalia zipped to my small hands, triggering the intruder sensors, trapping me. "Ah, sh-" my curse was interrupted by the small woman, Kikimora. "Over there! After them!" Soon, principal bump and the emperors slave were after me, chasing after me. I jumped onto my broomstick, casting a reflection spell against myself, creating the illusion of multiple of myself, swarming around the two, confusing them. I blasted a hole through the bright red intruder sensor with a combination of a fire and ice spell, causing a loud explosion.

"No, wait, (Y/n)!-" Thrusting myself forward on my staff, I flew through the already shattered window, darting into the thick wood. The wind blew off my cape revealing my long/short hair, flowing in the night through the gusts of wind. Past the trees and into the night, my fast flight picked up speed faster than I could quit, causing slight trails of smoke to fall behind my staffs tail. "Ahh!" I yelped out a cry for help, the speed becoming too much for me. Until suddenly, my body hit a large tree, causing my head to spin as I fell to the ground with a thud.

"Oh, no..." Principal Bump sighed. He stood beside Kikimora, Emperor Belos shadow who sees all. The woman who could pummel his career into the ground, filling him with fear. "Principal Bump...that child is no ordinary witch, as I'm sure you're aware." Bump nodded, full knowing what she meant. The child had exceeded at all types of magic they had attempted, and although being put in the potions track they used their knowledge to excel their other abilities, going against school rule. Even when put in detention, they thrived and found all the rules to bend and break, learning all forms of magic even against the wishes of the emperor. Principal bump shuffled his feet nervously, looking over at Kikimora nervously.

"We can't keep doing this, Principal Bump. I'm afraid I must report this to the emperor. We cannot have another rouge." He meekly nodded, watching the small creature walk off into the shadows.

I was walking through the woods again, finally on an official quest—or rather, a task. "Tsk...an errand this might be. But, nonetheless I know I'll get it! Hah!" I drew out the staff I was given and twirled it proudly with a smile under my golden mask. "After all, I'm not called a prodigy for nothing." I paused and looked up to the moon, taking off my mask to look at the beautiful gibbous.

My crimson eyes glistened in the light, my smile now visible to the world around me. "Wow, I'm finally on my way to being a commander." As I drank up the sky's beauty in awe, I noticed the smell of smoke now growing closer to me. Sitting on my staff, I raised up to see something-or somewitch flying uncontrollably.

'Wait a minute...that uniform. A student from the academy. What are they doing with a staff?!'

I quickly dashed to the sight of the crash where the smoke lead me to and discovered a small witch my age, coughing out a leaf and regaining their staff. "Oh, what can I even do?" They uttered as they skipped a stone into a nearby lake.

Their trousers were soaked due to having to retrieve the staff from the shallow water, as they attempted to dry off the staff with their own clothes, apologizing profusely to the magical object.

"I'm so sorry, I'll fix you right away. I've never had to escape that fast before..." they sighed again, sitting on a log that had previously fallen. Drawing a circle, they healed their staff immediately; the intense aura from the magic caused me to flinch. Most of the guards hadn't even had a flake of the power this mysterious student held.

Instinctively, I stepped forward without thinking and toward the young witch who had carefully placed their staff on their lap. My steps were quiet, leaving them inattentive to my presence.

"Excuse me, are you okay?" I asked politely, attempting to have the polite image I was given and trained for at the covens training. The witch jumped up, spinning around quickly on their heels to face me alarmed. Seeing my mask, their face drained even more. Stepping back near the water, they grabbed their staff and hopped on, ready to take off once more, potentially harming themselves again.

"Wait!" I yelled

I know there isn't a whole lot known about the golden guard yet, but I'll try to portray his personality! Is this okay?
