Chapter 22: Surprise Call

It was the morning within Lucinda and Ashter's house, as silence lingers from the outside but only behind the sounds of birds chirping, everything was nice. But deep within the house, Lucinda yells,

"REALLY!?!" Lucinda yells out loud in excitement as Ashter's seen putting his hair in a ponytail,

"Yeah! I got an email saying I'm finally going to meet my father's Wife! I HAVE to be ready to impress her!" Ashter says with confidence as he wears a nice black vest and a white dress shirt with black pants as Lucinda says,

"Wow... So you're also going to meet your dad too?" Lucinda says as Ashter shrugs,

"I'm not sure. My dad's wife said I'll meet him when I have time away from home. Besides, I feel like Aph will give me a day off if I work harder than I did yesterday." Ashter comments having to work as a guard due to... Unwelcomed guests as Ashter explains the story,

"Ah, I see. So you're a guard now?" Lucinda says as Ashter nods,

"Yep, ever since that mob got to Zane after his popularity exploded on MyTube, security needed to be tight so I work day and night shifts. A man named Damian then took my place." Ashter says as Lucinda playfully punches Ashter's steal-like arms.

"Well... Then maybe today IS the day to-" Lucinda says as Ashter rephrases himself,

"When it's time. Right now... Doesn't seem like it..." Ashter says as he then sits on a chair, positioning himself as he breathes in and out.

"Okay... Stay professional, Ashter." Ashter says to himself as Lucinda keeps a distance. And... With a press of a button, he is in a Skipe (Knockoff Skype call).

"Um... Hello? Is this the-" Ashter says as the woman he called a lot is... Not in a camera?

"Oh, Ashter Darling! Oh, am I glad to... Wow." Says the woman as she pauses as Ashter looks around in confusion,

"Uhm... Is there something on my face?" Ashter says as the woman chuckles, saying,

"Looks, charisma... Oh, what else could you possibly have in store? And you're a Werewolf too. Oh, what a precious thing you are." Says the woman as Ashter peeks away uncomfortably.

"Uhm... Wasn't I supported to see your face or... Something, miss?" Ashter asks as the woman laughs as if she was asked a stupid question.

"Why no! If I do then it would ruin the... Surprise. My husband is on a trip and will be back some other time... Now, I want to get to know you! Where you live, friends, family, everything. I want to make sure what life my husband's unique one is! Tell me everything..." Asks the woman as Ashter delightfully says,

"S-Sure! Well..." Ashter says, going on and on about his house, the layout, and his roommate.

"Oh. I see... A... Roommate, correct?" Asks the woman in discomfort.

"No... She's actually an amazing friend of mine! She helped me throughout a lot... But she is my roommate either way." Ashter says, praising a giggling Lucinda.

"Well... That seems to be... Unfortunate... Anyways, I also heard you're whose child? Tell me... Who took care of you for all these years?" Asks the woman as Ashter answers,

"Oh, my mom, I'm actually adopted and my mom, Zina took me in." Says Ashter as the woman gasps as if in shock.

"Oh... My... Irene..." Says the woman as she sudden says,

"Well, it seems my time has finally ended. I'll get back to you soon... Good day to you..." And the woman hangs up. Lucinda weirded out and Ashter in delight.
