Everywhere hurt. It had felt like Fiona's molecules had been taken apart, gotten put through the dishwasher and a wrestling match, and got sewn back together in the wrong way.

She slowly picked her head up, blinking the grogginess away from her eyes. As her eyesight came back to her, she noticed something different. The usual lab she was sure she should have appeared in was gone. The world had changed until it was unrecognizable. The usual clean, oxygen filled air was replaced with polluted, gassy air. There were cars (who used cars nowadays?) that are parked along the sidewalk, and honks filled the usually silent atmosphere.

The usual buildings that floated in mid-air were gone. Instead, they were piled up high on the ground, looking very endangered of collapsing.

Fiona stood up, having finally been able to feel her feet.

This was unusual, she wasn't used to the alien-like world. This was weirder than any of what her time-travel mentor described.

Time travel.

Her senses came back to her. She suddenly remembered everything.

Fiona was in the past.

Ahhahahahhaahahhaha a time travel au fanfic... I'm going to fail so badly.
