There was a knock on the door and both occupants looked up. "Lunch break Y/N-ya", Go-Eun popped her head in, "can't have you starving Taeyong on the first day."
"Unnie!"
Taeyong wasn't surprised. He gave you a mock disappointed stare, "you skip meals at work too?"
"Lunch time let's go", you shrugged on your blazer and snatched your purse. Taeyong laughed as he followed his flustered owner out.
You took him to Ajuma's café. You were sure to call so the sisters wouldn't overwhelm Taeyong, they could become rather excitable. They went in and claimed Y/N's usual booth. The hybrid's eyes were everywhere, taking in all the sights.
You watched with a smile while Taeyong curiously scanned the menu, "you do realize I'll have to order a meal specifically for you, right?"
He didn't answer and continued to scan the menu. You were right, while the menu had a wide selection there wasn't a category specifically for hybrids. They could enjoy the pre-set meals or have something done to order. "Fish", his ears flicked. Taeyong had learnt you were allergic to seafood so they didn't cook it at home.
You waited for a bit. When he didn't continue your brow arched, "alone?"
He almost nodded until he saw your deadpan stare. He skimmed the menu again and showed you the seafood section, "the platter without oysters", Taeyong didn't have an adventurous palette.
You nodded and went to the counter. His tail swayed as he soaked in the sights and sounds. He wasn't able to enjoy the outside like this with his previous owners. His mood soured immediately. The acrid smell that was on Y/N's jacket appeared. Taeyong wrinkled his nose as he searched for the source, his hairs raised some. He watched a man enter from the patio section of the café. Y/N and a waitress engaged in conversation by the buffet. The hybrid had a bad feeling. His body moved on its own walking briskly towards his owner. The male steadily approached the talking females from behind. His hand hovered over the knife container when it was suddenly yanked behind him. The loud thud and low growl startled everyone.
You looked to see Taeyong had pinned a man to the wall. "Yongie what're you doing?" The hybrid didn't answer. Slit pupils focused on the man, his lips pulled back in a snarl and tail thrashing with displeasure.
"Ah you!" Myung-Hwa exclaimed then turned to the kitchen, "Yeobo! Call the police!" The man was trying to get out of the hybrid's hold. "Don't let him get away Taeyong", she cheered, "you're going to regret coming back punk!" The man began struggling with fervour, the more he struggled the tighter the hybrid held him. Beads of red began to appear.
"What's happening?" You couldn't suppress your confusion.
Myung-Hwa stopped you from freeing the man of Taeyong's hold. "Y/N-ya he's the man that bumped into you on last visit. When Haneul Oppa checked the tapes he was the one that tipped my tray and made the soup burn your hand", she explained. Taeyong's claws pressed deeper with a snarl. The man shrieked as red dripped down the hybrid's hand. "He's been lurking around for some days now and stirring trouble."
"I'm sorry", you articulated slowly.
