Taeyong opened his eyes slowly. The city lights danced in a kaleidoscope of colours on the high ceiling. He blinked at them for a moment then looked to the comfortable weight on his chest. You slept soundly, soft breaths escaping your full lips. Taeyong gathered his owner in his arms and stood to his feet. After a few blinks, his eyes adjusted to the darkness completely. He held you against his chest and carried you to your room. The door was left ajar so he was able to push it open with his tail. He laid you on the bed and sat by you for a while.

With all your accomplishments you could've been very different. You could've been haughty like some celebrities or used your wealth to fight those who fought against you. Yet you chose to quietly endure everything life threw at you, never allowing your problems to burden another. Never letting another in to shoulder your pain. In the quiet of the room, Taeyong leaned over and placed a feathery kiss on your tear-stained cheek. You deserved perfect and then some. He was willing to face anything for your sake. As he sat up your lashes trembled. Slowly the hazel eyes he'd come to love were revealed. You blinked languidly before you focused on him. Taeyong knew it was too dark for you to see him yet your lips stretched into a breathtaking smile.

"Hi", he whispered in the dark.

You leaned into his touch as he caressed your cheek, "hi."

"You should take a shower and change into something cozier", he turned your bedside lamp on.

When he faced you again your eyes glittered with an emotion the hybrid could not read. "Okay", you nodded then rose from the bed. Taeyong retreated to his room for a well-needed shower.

Taeyong was out first and decided to reheat their cold meals. He's glad no ants found the boxes while they slept. You were lured into the kitchen by the smell. Your stomach growled loudly upon entry, reminding you that all you had was breakfast. Taeyong smiled as he presented the microwaved meal.

"Let's watch a movie", he suggested.

"Okay", you chirped. Y/N seemed far lighter, the solemn sadness was nowhere to be seen. Taeyong couldn't help but smile.

They watched movies well into the night. Taeyong carried you back to your room when you fell asleep but opted to continue watching movies until much later. Soon felt yourself drifting back to consciousness. Strong arms kept you pressed to a warm chest. You smiled to yourself, you felt protected. You allowed yourself a few minutes before climbing out of bed. It was around five-thirty, Taeyong would wake up on his own soon. You cleaned and dressed quickly. You wanted to retrieve the projects before office hours started. Donning a simple Tee and jeans you hurried to your car.

Taeyong woke up much later than he usually did feeling a bit empty, you weren't in his arms. He sat up startled. Taeyong threw himself out of bed and swung open the doors. He winced at the brightly lit hall, the sun being well into the sky. He headed towards the office without a second thought only to find it empty. His heart thudded as he searched every room. They were all empty, Y/N wasn't home. The reality made him crumble in on himself, his chest tightened. Taeyong gasped for air and clenched his fists to calm himself as unspeakable images played through his mind.

"Y/N isn't like that", he breathed from his spot curled on the floor, "you'll come back." He focused on your scent that lingered in the air.
