This morning a thud startled you awake. You glanced at the clock, it was well into the morning but it was also a weekend you usually slept in late. You rubbed your eyes and went in search of the sound. You knocked on Taeyong's door but got no reply. You called to him again and a low pained whimper flowed to your ears. You didn't hesitate to enter the room. The heat hit you, despite the air-conditioning, the room was somehow really warm.

Your eyes searched till you found Taeyong on the floor squirming, limbs in a tangled mess with the sheets. You hurried to your hybrid and helped him back into bed. He was feverish, scorching to the touch and breathing heavily. He wasn't responding to his name and you were scared. You tucked him in, turned off the air-conditioning and opened the windows. You raced back to your room and called E.X.O.

"May I speak with Zhang-issi or Kim-issi please", you requested the moment the call went through. Yixing and Jong-Dae were the resident doctors and the seminars speakers along with the nutritionist Kyungsoo.

The panic in your voice caused Minseok to wordlessly transfer the call. Yixing's calming voice flowed, "good morning."

"Good morning this is L/N Y/N", came your rushed greeting, "Taeyong has a high fever and he's not breathing too well so he's in pain. Help", you got out in a single breath.

"Is he responding to your calls?"

"No."

"Has there been a noticeable change in behavior recently?"

"Yea, he's been more distant since last week."

"It's his heat you have nothing to worry about." You could hear the smile in the doctor's voice and it confused you greatly.

"What do you mean I have nothing to worry about? If we're going by his cycle chart then its a whole three weeks early ."

"Hybrid cycles are similar to menstrual cycles, not completely fix but they can be predicted", he explained, "the chart was a possible projection of the cycle."

"What do I do in the meantime? Is it possible to still give him the shot?"

"His heat has already started the shot wouldn't be a safe option, I recommend tablets." You would've preferred the shot. You didn't like the idea of giving Taeyong drugs every eight hours and the pills were know for having side-effects. "In the meantime reduce his fever but be careful he has had unpleasant experiences during his heat."

"He told me", you confessed quietly, "please place a twenty piece heat suppressant for immediate delivery." The doctor made a note and gave his salutations.

You hung up and sighed, you only hoped he didn't try to maul you. You retrieved a wide mouth basin from storage, dumped a few ice cubes in and went back to Taeyong's room. He tossed and turned, making a mess of the covers. You entered his bathroom and left the basin to be filled. You cleared the night table closest to the bed then retrieved the filled basin and his washcloth. You rolled up your sleeves after putting the basin by the bedside table and begun stripping Taeyong of the covers. A painstaking process due to the sheer uncooperativeness of the hybrid. You were able to get him to sit upright then you hesitated. If you tried to touch his skin in this state, wouldn't he maul you? You gathered your courage and undid the first button. Taeyong's eyes snapped open, clawed hands locked your wrists in an iron grip. Those slit pupils focused on you as a low animalistic snarl resounded. The nails dug into your flesh but you merely steadied your breathing.
