Rimuru opened his eyes. He then looked around him. He was met with a familiar sight. Little pools of water. Stalactites and stalagmites. Magic ore. The sealed cave where Veldora resided in.
Rimuru also realized that he was in his human form. He swiftly changed back to his slime form, and quickly hid his aura. It was quite nostalgic, being back here.
["Master, do you intend to change the timeline or not?"]
Those words shocked Rimuru. Of course he would, would he? He then realised the potential risks involved, which could lead to more death and destruction if he was not careful. At the same time, it had been so long since he could talk with his companions...
"I don't know Ciel... I genuinely don't know... I want to see everyone again, but... what happens if I screw up the timeline? Will I lose loved ones? Will I still get the same subordinates? I don't want to go through the pain of not meeting them, but if I do, I need to go through the pain of them not knowing what we all went through..."
As Rimuru pondered, he slowly made his way to the location that Veldora would be at. He then stopped, realising that he should spend some time collecting herbs and what not.
["Master I do not believe that this change will be consequential."]
"Yea... but I can't help it. If I make even one mistake-"
["We can try again."]
"And suffer the loss and failure again."
Silence. Rimuru grimaced internally.
["Master... do not worry. We will succeed. I promise. Follow what you believe is right."]
"Thank you, Ciel..."
Rimuru then slowly made his way to the part of the cave that Veldora was sealed at. That was where all of it began, when a measly slime befriended a True Dragon.
Rimuru bounced into the area, waiting in anticipation for what Veldora would say next.
"Greetings, small one. Can you hear me?" said a voice.
"How nostalgic. It's also funny how Veldora tries to act so serious too."
"Yes. I can most certainly hear you, Storm Dragon Veldora."
Rimuru then turned towards the voice, seeing the familiar navy blue dragon that was once his sworn brother.
"Oh? It seems that you know who I am. That is interesting... Tell me, what brings you to my domain?"
"I would hardly call it a domain. After all, you are sealed here, aren't you?"
"How knowledgeable. It would seem that you are an Unique Monster, after all. But... why is it that you seem so familiar?"
"Familier?"
"My species is that of a True Dragon, and True Dragons recognize each other by their wavelengths and aura. A sense of familiarity means that we are related, although not genetically, but at the spiritual level. And yet I get that feeling from a slime? That is what intrigues me the most."
"Oh yea... I am technically a True Dragon, or at least a subspecies of that." thought Rimuru.
"Heh. It's safe to say that I am not just any slime."
"Obviously."
Rimuru smiled. In fact, he genuinely missed Veldora, and wanted to talk with him about manga and games.
