"Indigo, its time to wake up, my darling," a whispered voice said in my ear.
I cracked my eyes open a bit to observe the darkness that surrounded me in my small room. Seeing nothing, I decided I must have been dreaming and closed my eyes as I laid back down. Just as I was about to drift back into dream land, the voice spoke again.
"Indigo, it is time to awaken. You will be needed soon. Your light is meant to shine brightly on the new horizon. Awaken, and embrace the change. Now, on the count of three, I want you to open your eyes. One...Two...THREE."
I jolted awake and nearly flew out of my bed.
What the hell was that?
Every one of my senses were on high alert as I scanned the room. Nothing seemed to be out of place, aside from my window being open. I know I had closed it; I never left it open. Too many opportunities for...trouble if I didn't.
My heart was pounding hard and fast as I tried to regulate my breathing and take in the scent of the house. Nothing smelled off either. My human side was urging me to scour around to be sure, but oddly enough, my wolf was calm. Almost as if the voice hadn't startled her at all.
"Best get back to bed now, you'll be able to think clearly in the morning," Sienna, my wise and ever observant wolf companion whispered in my head. I rubbed my eyes one last time and decided to do as she said. But I couldn't shake the feeling deep in my gut that something was wrong, and things were going to change.
Whether I wanted them to or not.
